    Sliders for Manage Only Mode?

I only manage the games as I believe that whether players succeed or not should be base on their ratings, and not my ability to mash buttons. I'm REALLY digging this game. So far I'm 5-1 with my Reds. In my last game I was down 5-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning at Great American Ball Park. In the 8th the Reds scored six runs and won the game 7-5. All it took was getting Wainright out of the game, lol.

Some things that I'm noticing with out-of-the-box sliders are that walks aren't frequent enough, stolen base success percentage is too high (for the Reds), while attempted steal numbers for Reds' opponents are ZERO. Home run numbers are probably down, not sure there and strike out numbers aren't high enough. Errors are few and far in between, injuries aren't frequent enough.

Anyone here got MOM sliders for MLB 12: The Show? I would much appreciate it, but even without sliders adjustments this game is beautiful to watch, it's VERY close to realistic-looking.

Any CPU vs. CPU slider set would do it for you. Your observations are backed up by the stats that people are collecting to make such sliders better.

Like how walks and steals are bit down... that's generally true so you click down Pitcher Consistency to induce more walks, increase BR Steal Frequency to match real life SB/CS numbers, etc.

So check out CPU related slider threads.

So you don't have to read through the threads I'll just give you what I'm using. Both CPU vs CPU threads have similar slider sets but this is what I've settled on and it feels right to me.

      Contact - 5
      Power - 5
      Timing - 5
      Foul Frequency - 4
      Solid Hits - 5
      Starter Stamina - 6
      Reliever Stamina - 5
      Pitcher Control - 5
      Pitcher Consistency - 4
      Strike Frequency - 5
      Manager Hook - 5
Pickoffs - 10 (this needs to be patched though so it doesn't matter what you put this on)
      Pitch Speed - 10
      Fielding Errors - 7
      Throwing Errors - 5
      Fielder Run Speed - 4
      Fielder Reaction - 5
      Fielder Arm Strength - 5
      Base runner Speed - 5
      Steal Ability - 4
      Steal Frequency - 8
      Wind - 5
      Injury Frequency - 6

Braves fan, I LOVE those sliders! Yesterday my Reds won 6-1 getting 11 hits and a solo shot by Bruce. I still wish the computer would attempt to steal (hasn't happened yet in the first 9 games of the season) or throw over to try and pick me off, this is something that SCEA MUST address (can't believe they let that slip through the cracks, and sadly not many folks are complaining about it, I guess there are too many 12 year olds wanting to hit 70 homeruns in a season to even think about things like stealing bases, taking walks, etc).

They should try to steal, I haven't had any issues there. I hate that they never attempt a pickoff move though. Knight put this in the bugs and glitches thread so I'm hoping this is patched. Not sure if it will or not, they seem to ignore us MOM players.

I've definitely had issues with the cpu not stealing. In the nearly 15 games I've managed I've seen, I think, MAYBE, two steals. And, those were on a double-steal attempt with two outs.

This game is SO close to out-of-the-box being a true sim. I'm telling ya, OOTP players are going to be envious if The Show ever nails down these little things (I could care less about the cosmetic stuff, to a degree) that make the game so life-like. It's already close to life-like as it is.

From a technical perspective (really don't know much about baseball but love the game), you guys mentioned the CPU not stealing enough. Have you tried raising the BASE RUNNING SPEED? With it higher, it might "provoke" the CPU to steal more. With it low, it's as if the CPU is saying "The speed is low so they won't steal because they'll get caught.."

Anyone try this? Just a thought is all.

Do we need CPU vs CPU sliders if we are simming games?

In my slider set (ate55 cpu v cpu) I have the steal frequency at 10. With it at this level I find that all types of guys try stealing. Obviously the speedsters are running but even guys with slightly below average speed will try, although most of the time unsuccessful. BTW my set works well with manage only too.

Only injury, stamina, and manager hook related sliders matter in simmed games.

I don't like it that high because guys steal all the time, they go on the 1st pitch. That's just not realistic imo.

That would tell me that SCEA has not code in for factors like:

                        what count is it?

has the pitcher relaxed TOO much?

                        how many outs are there?

what is the arm rating of the catcher?

                        ------------

If the runners are attempting to steal on the first pitch, every time they attempt, then that tells me A LOT about how stealing, as it pertains to the realism of the game, is viewed by SCEA.
