Can't Understand CPU Contact, Timing Less than 5
I see that the majority of All Star sliders have the CPU contact, timing, power and fouls at 3 or 4...All less than 5. However, I'm 10 games into my franchise and the CPU isn't hitting at all. I just struck out 14 CPU batters in a game with guys whiffing on fastballs right down the middle. The game before, I struck out 8 in 6 innings with Bronson Arroyo thowing 88 and 89. I've just upped CPU contact to 5, timing to 6 and fouls to 4. Anyone else having this issue?Tags: None -

I'll test it out, but the pitch speed looks way too fast. I usually play at 4 on AS.Comment

Re: Can't Understand CPU Contact, Timing Less than 5
I'll give my take on the CPU hitting sliders and why people would lower them.
Contact: The CPU takes too many borderline pitches even with 2 strikes, and never seems to fish for a low breaking ball in pitcher's counts.
Power: Too many balls seem to be hit hard, usually lined right into the gap, the corner or for home runs. Not enough balls just dropping in for hits.
Fouls: They seem to be able to foul balls off at will.
I play on HOF and this has been a persistent issue. I've yet to find the sweet spot for all three sliders, the first time I managed to see some hitters swing and miss on good sliders was when I lowered the contact. The problem is working out how one slider affects the other, haven't found a slider set or came up with one yet that I think adequately balances the pitcher/hitter battle.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Re: Can't Understand CPU Contact, Timing Less than 5
I've moved fielder speed to 3 (human & cpu), reliever stamina to 3 (human & cpu), and baserunner steal frequency to 6. Other than that, everything else I'm using is AS Default and I'm seeing some great variety. This may change after I've gotten more games under my belt, but for right now I'm relieved that I'm not having the slider tweaking battle within myself that I typically have with all games these days.Comment
