    Re: ZOMB13's All-Star Timing/Meter Sliders

I mean, I had a game I won 8-2 in the series...Felix pitched, of course...where I sent 10 to the plate, and 7 scored. Drew 3 walks in the inning, timley hitting, and capped it with a Gutierrez Grand Slam....so I'm not sure.

I'm drawing between 2-4 BBs a game...which is about right.

I think that may just be one of the faults of using timing only hitting. You don't have control of the PCI and will miss sometimes, even on balls right down the middle. It just the nature of the beast. Maybe try zone hitting? That way you can control the PCI and you know that if you miss, YOU caused it, and it wasn't based on the hitters abilities. Just a suggestion, otherwise, I'm not sure what to tell you man. I've had high strikeout games against me and low ones too.

Or I just thought about this, but maybe bump Human Timing or Human Foul Frequency up a notch. That should help.

          Re: ZOMB13's All-Star Timing/Meter Sliders

          Hey Zomb13,

I am digging the sliders so far. I think that you are very close to nailing these bad boys down.

However, I am noticing something that I am not sure we can really fix, but maybe we can. I noticed last night in a game that no matter how close a pitch was to the zone (and in some cases in the zone, but called a ball) the batter swung maybe twice the whole game. I mean anything from a fastball just off the black to a slider that break just outside, nothing...I got one swing where a sinker went low, but the only way to get strikeouts is to simply attack the zone over and over, thus leading me with a very very low ball count, somewhere in the 20s with strike count in the 70s.

Any thoughts? I know that Bobhead talked about this in his sliders but I highly doubt I can do HOF difficultly....

          Thanks!!

Hmmm I've heard a lot of people talking about this but I personally haven't seen anything like it. I get all kinds of swing throughs on all different kinds of pitches off the plate. Last night in a game vs the Reds, Scott Rolen struck out on 3 straight swings and misses. The first on a fastball at the letters, the second on a slider low and in and the third on a slider low and away that I missed my spot on and it ended up WAY out of the zone but still got him to swing. I do seem to have more success on fastballs just above the strikezone as a strikeout pitch though. I'll look into it a little bit more and see what I can come up with.

Also I'm gonna go ahead and change user timing to 6. I've played a few games with it at 6 and really feel like my strikeouts at the plate have gotten better and that I see less swing and misses at pitches down the middle with this at 6.

              Re: ZOMB13's All-Star Timing/Meter Sliders

Just chiming in. Played my first two games of my franchise with these sliders. Not judging from these 2 games alone. I'm 1-1 with both games going into extras. Both games low scoring. Yes, I'm seeing a lot of strikeouts from the CPU but i can admit that I am swing at a few pitches out of the strikezone. They are sometimes so hard to layoff, its like I start to hit the button and immediately I'm saying to myself "dam" or "no".

So far I'm enjoying these sliders. The only adjustment I made was raise the pitch speed to 3. I'll post some as I play games.

Ok sounds good man. Glad you're liking them so far. Im still seeing a good variation in scores. So don't be discouraged by your low scoring games. The bats will heat up for you.

Hey hopefully you haven't abandoned these sliders yet.

I was wondering if you had the time to try pitching with ra dickey. I was messing around last night and decided to play a game with the mets. With the current settings I could not get a single knuckle ball to land in the zone. I nailed the meter perfectly about 75% of the time and still no luck. With every other pitch I had no problems.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong and you can give me some tips or something haha.

No I haven't abandoned these sliders at all! I've just had a very busy last 10 days or so and haven't had hardly any time to play. I should be back into it fully by the beginning of next week and yes I'll play a game using R.A. Dickey and see how it goes and let ya know if I figure any tips or tricks out with him. I've never used a knuckleballer in this game yet so it'll be a new experience for me. I'll check back in here over the next few days and see if anyone has any more comments/questions.

Ok so after my last lose on rookie, i have thrown my hands up in the air and said. .. you know what... why not...

why not what you ask??? why not jump in finally and forget my fear of the ice cold water and just enjoy this game for what it is..

Starting with my next game (Tomorrow) i will be using your All-Star Sliders on All-Star level.

I don't know what to expect, i mean im already struggling to hit on rookie and veteran. so will i see more of the same if not worse on All star?? who knows all i know is that this is what im finally sticking with and whatever happens happens... im done on the slider marry go round.

ill give you an update on games as they happen... i pray i can win on these...

I am only 3 games in so far, and using classic pitching, but loving what I am seeing to this point and I am using a fantasy draft.
