Guess pitch sliders?
Does anyone have any sliders for users of the guess pitch? I've been playing the show for years and it seems like every year the hitting is more and more difficult know matter what options you use. So i have resorted to guess pitch so i at least stand a chance on location. The thing is i make solid contact and timing is perfect yet it seems to always go straight to the fielders. Im about 20 games in and have 2 homeruns which is very frustrating. I even bumped the power up two notches but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
Honestly, because you turned on GP is probably the reason you are struggling. I use to feel that it helped and so I used it all the time and found that I had to adjust my sliders, adjust them again, then adjust them to where they were way outa wack to my favor.
GP just handicaps you. I didn't think that was the case but I read so posts here and saw what everyone else was saying and decided to take my lumps and try not using it. I adjusted my sliders up to normal (all except pitch speed) and attempted to bat without GP.
I kept Pitch speed 1 click above zero so that I could attempt to read where the pitch was coming from. This allowed me to read and react. As I grew comfortable with not using GP I started to realize that I was seeing the ball and was able to know if it was going to be a strike or ball by the trajectory of the angle.
Now I'm still not that great and I have dropped down to veteran in order to get the pitcher to pitch the ball in the strike zone more often but I am hitting about .280 or so and am improving. I do have my bad games but I do have a lot more good ones than I use too.
If you are having trouble hitting, just adjust the speed of the pitch and if that doesn't help that much drop down to vetern just so you can get use to seeing the ball and hitting. But most of all, hit the cages. Practice will help you not to flail at everything.
Now I know there are some great players on here and they may have some other tips and slider info but I found my suggestions to work for me so maybe they can help you a bit. -
Re: Guess pitch sliders?
I have this same issue. I've used guess pitch as a crutch as I've always struggled with hitting. It seems like this year more than ever using guess pitch handicaps you. Even on rookie with sliders adjusted in my favor I'm struggling at the plate as far as getting hits, especially extra base hits. It's at the point I've become a MOM'er my last couple series in my franchise to get something more realistic than my attempt at being a button masher. I'd like to know if anyone is having success with guess pitch as well and what set up/sliders you're using. I'd love to get back to actually playing the game again but I've gotta do better than averaging 4 hits a game, all singles!Comment

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
I was a big believer in guess pitch also, but this year it seems to majorly handicap you. If you guess wrong, the penalities seem very high. I am playing at all star pitching, and veteran hitting. contact 6, timing 6. rest is standard. I play zone and move the pci to where the pitch is. If your are patient, you will not have to move it much especially on fast ball counts.Comment

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
hey guys thanks for the responses. I've actually stopped using guess pitch and have had success at all star level. The key is my tv was set on dmc (digital motion control mode) I believe it was called. Which caused a delay from when you hit the button wouldnt match the swing animation. Therefor I would have to decide if i was going to swing before the pitch was released. This has made a world of difference. I now get realistic stats. I suggest if anyone has a newer tv and seems to be late and not see the pitch to look for this option. It's like a whole new game.
Thanks guys

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
I am freaking terrified of not using my crutch, I would turn into a free swinging machine... I'm already that now with two strikes or when i get behind in the game or what not.... I've done all the batting practice stuff which just turns me into more of a free swinging idiot... or rather an easy strike out target for the cpu..
Im having a hard time i have quit this game this year once and months later gotten back into it... and am about to do it again... heck im ready to go get some arcade sliders and go to town... im that frustrated...
i just wish they would go back to having the game be as fun and enjoyable as 07 and 08 were..."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
The key is to not let it be a crutch. Early in the count, look for pitches you can hit hard and look to pull them into the alley. If you get really far ahead in the count, then you can look for a certain pitch but dont automatically swing if you get it-it still needs to be a pitch you can drive. Start there and you will see more pitches, wear out the pitcher, and get more mistakes to hit hard. If you get two strikes on you, then use a contact swing and look to slap it the other way. Hopefully, you can get back to 2-2 and get a pitch to hit with a normal swing and look to hit it up the middle. I might guess location too but really just something low and over the plate in double play situations with a power hitter and swing influence up. I have hit a few bombs this way but also missed out on pitches I could have driven becaused I guessed wrongLast edited by rjackson; 08-24-2012, 04:18 AM.Comment

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
i have just played a handful games in my franchise and i have seen that using guess pitch is not what I'd hoped it to be. i get my new glasses next week, i hope those help me play this game and see the ball better. just struck out 11 times in my last game vs Atlanta.
I have already found myself doing the slider roulette. i have downloaded at least five sets including some from here that are in the vault. My question is for someone that is new to this series what level should i start on and if i do use sliders what do you suggest.
i have been playing baseball games for several years but this is the first year with the show, so any advice will be appreciated.Comment

Re: Guess pitch sliders?
After playing this game for many months, I really don't see much of a "penalty" for using guess pitch.
I still work the counts, get walks, get hits on pitches that I didn't guess... I really think timing is the most important part... you time it right, it doesn't matter what you guessed.
That's just my opinion. I play on Legend difficulty, default sliders except pitch speed +2, and CPU pitcher control +1.
Maybe someone could give me an example of how you are penalized?
I was really in the slider's thread to see what people had for their "baserunning success". Right now I have it -1, does anyone have it lower?Denver Broncos
