    Injury Slider Question

    Quick question.

I've been skimming through the slider set threads and have seen some discussion on the injury slider but was hoping for a little more input. I currently have injuries set at default. I'm using TNK's slider set and believe that is what he has it set at. I've just finished my first month of April in franchise mode and have had no injuries on the MLB level. However, I've had two injuries on my AAA team (I'm playing with the Mets) that forced me to place Baxter and Rottino on the 60 day DL. So I know the injuries option is turned on.

I'm curious if anyone plays with the injury slider set at something different and how often injuries occur? I'll probably end up kicking myself for this but I feel I should be experiencing more injuries; not necessarily season ending injuries, but minor injuries that take a guy out of the lineup for a week as I have not experienced this once. I understand that injuries are totally random and maybe I got lucky this month. I'll probably end up getting jacked with injuries in May regardless of where I put the slider now, lol. I'm just curious what everyone else is using and their experiences with it though. Thanks!

    Re: Injury Slider Question

I had it at 6 for played games and decided to bring it down to 5...which sucks because I literally saw none on Default.

    28 games at 6.

    CC out for 1-2 weeks
    Jeter out 2-3 months
    Gardner out 1-2 months
    A-Rod out one game
    A. Jones out one game
    Michael Pineda out 2-3 games
    Freddy Garcia out one game

At 3 during sims, over the same 28 games, literally only two total superstars were DL'd. That's not enough!!!

So I'm simming at 4, playing at 5. Will adjust from there after another 20 or so games (especially if I don't see even minor injuries occur during my played games).

I was hoping that was not the case. On default, injuries seem rare. I was afraid by raising them to 6 I would see too much damage. I will probably just end up leaving them at 5 because at 6 I would most likely get super frustrated. It's not worth it, lol.

Yeah, it's not the old guys that bugged me. It was Gardner and Pineda on top of it. I'm not saying that couldn't happen in real life (think Red Sox), but when Pineda got hurt and his sub Garcia got hurt in the same game last night, I decided enough was enough.

And I un-hurt Gardner. My lineup was looking more like The Pirates AAA.

I'm leaving everyone else, but man. It started getting nuts.

haha that would drive me bananas. I will just leave it at default. Hopefully some type of injury occurs.

i dont get it. u said thats not enough, but then just because Gardner and his backup got injured, u moved the slider back to default?

was it the fact that the 2 players on the DL were star players?

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I think I'm leaning toward using 6 when playing then "un-injuring" guys (or decreasing severity) if it gets out of hand. So you still see enough guys getting injured when you have it on 4 for simming?

To be honest with you, if you want near-exact the amount of Injuries, set the Slider to 9. I have the slider set to 8 in the Season or Franchise that I play and the injuries are about 80-85% of what they normally are in real life. This goes for whether you are playing or simulating a game for your team or the rest of the teams in the MLB. If someone tells you 8 is too high, they are just flat our wrong and need to check CBS.Sports MLB Disabled List as of 4/25/12 Have Fun

That's my problem. In real life, injuries occur all the time it seems. I really don't want the game to mimic that even though I posted this thread, lol. The problem from what I have been reading is that on default, there are not enough injuries but on 6 there have been too many. How many games are you into your franchise? Could you sum up the amount/types/severity of the amount of injuries you have been experiencing?

                    Re: Injury Slider Question

My experience is that with the Injury Ratings left the way SCEA has them in their Roster Set, meaning you do not edit them, that you will get a realistic amount of injuries at 8. You will see some 1-6 day injuries, some 20-25 day injuries, and some 60-90 day injuries. You will not see 4 or 5 players be lost for the entire season, in my experience. Just because the slider is set to 8 does not mean that very serious injuries will occur once a week. I suggest that you start a season and simulate through that season. Check your teams injuries and even the other teams injuries, the type of injuries and how many there are, and you will see positive, realistic results. The slider at 6 is too low if you want realistic results akin to actual MLB. I have spent hours figuring this out myself, so my information is very reliable. Thanks and let me know how it goes Have Fun

The in-game engine and the sim engine utilize the injury slider differently. Default during games will yield different results when simming. This slider needs to be tested separately.

6 was too much in game.

                        3 was not enough simming.

I think that 8 is the best setting. You will see realistic injuries, of amount and severity. Have Fun
