Ready to give up on game... need help

Ok im giving this game one more chance. i have tried everything i can think of but just cant win with this game how i used to and became accustomed too back with 08. Which is really the last game that i have any real experience with in this series.

I'm about ready to try the most user favored cpu non favored sliders i can find on rookie diff level i can find. If i can not win using this idea i will have to finally just hang it up and give up on this series going forward.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make this game easier and more fun... realism is fine and great but i still need to win to have fun. with out winning why even play???

I think we've all been there at one time or another so you have my sympathies.

My suggestion to you is to run with TNK's sliders. They really do work.
If you are patient you will get the walks..which in turn lead to baserunners...which in turn leads to the pitchers confidence going down...which leads to more baserunners..which will lead to runs being scored...pretty obvious i know but using his sliders you really are able to make this become a reality as you are able to get ahead in the count more times than not just as long as you are patient and not swinging at junk.

Also i would advise you just to bat and not pitch in games for a while.By doing this as you will be hitting all the time and your 'eye will really become trained into where the strikezone is and you will be able to distinguish balls and strikes better giving you a better chance to string hits together.

    Good luck and happy hitting...

    Edit: Lower pitch speed also.

lol youve been saying this for the last two years now, accept that this game mirrors baseball in every way imaginable you will have hot/cold streaks and very rarely run of 100+ plus wins a season.

Some players just don't enjoy the computer's ability to influence situations in order to mirror the randomness of real baseball. Sometimes it gets a bit overdone, admittedly. You do not have the option of pulse pitching in real life, therefore, it would make more sense if the ball always went somewhere in that circle(with exception to dramatic breaking pitches) when you use it on the game. There are many things like this in the game that are less than stellar.

Computers don't influence situations *at will.* It's just that baseball is such a sport... you fail a lot.

Even the best MLB team loses 4 out of 10 games against competitions at the same level. That's A LOT of losing. You hit unsuccessfully 7 or 8 out of 10 at bats. That's A LOT of poor hitting.

Your frustration is a reflection of the fact that the game does simulate real life very well.

That's just the thing, though. It's a game. It's nowhere close to real life because we can never communicate with the world on the screen in a direct way. I don't expect built-in randomness. I expect a game that can become something I would never be able to experience in real life. We always hear, "this guy is putting up video game numbers." Sometimes, players do really well in real life. Sometimes, they do poorly. The same thing happens in The Show and that's all well and good. When my 1st baseman fields a grounder 10 feet behind the bag and then waits for 2 seconds after my RTTS pitcher gets to the bag before he underhands the ball, it feels a bit stupid. It is a bit stupid. It happens too often to ever fall under the realm of randomness(which is supposedly the exact same thing as realism). It also doesn't look unnatural enough to be labeled as a glitch, but we've all watched a million baseball games in real life and this doesn't happen. I think most gamers expect to have control over an in-game situation when they are holding a controller. I respect your view of things, but lack of control in a video game is not what I look for and is why I won't be purchasing The Show series for at least a few years. This is all despite the fact that I am mostly successful as a player in The Show.

The RTTS pitcher having difficulty covering 1B is just a limitation of the game system and it's not the game deliberately not giving control to yourself though. It's been talked about in the RTTS wishlist thread and the dev team is supposedly working to improve it.

What you are saying basically comes down to sim vs. arcade. Since the Show tries to cater to the audience who likes the former more, they need to make certain compromised I suppose. On the other hand, you can play at a lower difficulty level, so that you become more successful in executing things.

Re: Ready to give up on game... need help

Well since my copy of 08 failed to launch today, i had to swallow my pride and get back into it with 12. I played my first game on rookie and lost 2-1 in 10 innings. didn't strike out too much, got the pitcher to throw a lot of pitches, did have a good late inning but didn't capitalize on it (started pressing at the plate) I have also went from using Guess Pitch, but am no longer using it.

Wasn't a bad start to my restart of my season. I am using wide angle for hitting which is seeming to help me a great deal. I'm also trying to take pitches until i get to two strikes. I'm also trying to pitch how real mlb pitchers do, hard in, soft away.

I will however start to play on All-Star just so that i can see a higher variety of balls out of the zone without having to tweak and sweat the slider roller coaster thing.

I have to admit i didn't throw many if any real fits during this game. I did when i was swinging at pitches i KNEW were out of the zone by miles...
