Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

Thanks to everyone for the help testing and for the support.....I appreciate it.

I feel these are playing very well at the moment but they are still subject to change. One thing I'm not going to do is make changes to the base set because one or two guys have a certain problem. It needs to be a major issue and it needs to be widespread where it's obvious that it needs to be changed.

Feel free to adjust things to suit your style / issues if necessary - just don't use my sliders, make a tweak and them claim them as your own set....that's all I ask.

Fielder Speed - I think it's pretty damn good where it's at.....balls can get in the gap, but I feel like they can get to a ball on the run as well. I don't see a need to change it right now. I haven't seen more than 2 triples in a single game and I'm not seeing a ridiculous amount of doubles in the gap either.

Pitch Speed - I like it at 8, fastballs can be overpowering but not unhittable....and you still have to stay back on offspeed pitches.

Solid Hits - Right now I'm getting a good mix of liners, soft fly balls, choppers, slow rollers, etc. I might experiment with it at 1 at some point.....but I'm not ready to move this slider yet

I'm gonna play a game right now Boston @ LA Angels with each teams #4 pitcher and I'll post a recap after the game.

Thorw Speed and Baserunner Speed - these seem pretty good where they're at.

It's an Android app called iScore I got from Google Play. I score "real" MLB games so I figured it was worth the $10. They also have a MLB subscription that costs an extra $20. The rosters and stats are updated daily throughout the entire season. I figured it would be a lot easier than entering everything manually. It has tons of options to choose from. I just got it so I'm still learning. I figured I could "practice" with the games I play with The Show.

In the past I believe pitch speed has been a matter of personal preference. With the opened up timing window & easier pitch recognition, are the sliders more tied to pitch speed or still personal preference?

TNK - EXHIBITION GAME (Boston @ LA Angels)

              * The Red Sox loaded the bases in the top of the 1st w/ 1 out but Mike Napoli hit into an inning ending 6-4-3 double play.

              * Felix Doubront and Jason Vargas were pitching well through the first 5 innings as the score was tied 0-0 entering the 6th inning.

              * The game was scoreless in the bottom of the 6th when Pujols hit a 449 foot 2-run HR to LF. Josh Hamilton was up next and he made it back to back jacks with a 438 foot bomb to straight away CF to give LA a 3-0 lead.

              * Boston answered back in the top of the 7th as Napoli doubled to lead off the inning and Will Middlebrooks crushed a HR to LF with a full count to cut the Angels lead to 3-2. Vargas would rebound to get out of the inning keep the Angels in the lead 3-2.

              * Sean Burnett pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for LA. Andrew Bailey came on for Boston and got the 1st two outs in the bottom of the 8th but Albert Pujols hit his 2nd HR of the game to push the Angels lead to 4-2.

              * The Red Sox would have Ortiz, Napoli and Middlebrooks due up against Agels closer Ernesto Frieri in the bottom of the 9th. Ortiz struck out to begin the inning and Napoli popped up as the Sox were down to their final out. Frieri struck out Middlebrooks to end it as the Angels beat the Red Sox 4-2.

PITCH SPEED - it's slower this year and it needs to be minimum of 7 or 8.....or you'll be ahead of everything. This also allows guys with serious heat to be able to blow a fastball past you.

                  TNK...

Curious what your thoughts were on the "step out of the box" theory, before the AI throws it's 1st pitch of the inning? It does seem to eliminate the dreaded 1st pitch gopher ball IMO...

                  Your thoughts?

                  -GW-

Ps... Not sure if a small tweak to pitcher control or upping from AS to HOF when pitching (as I have NO problem throwing strikes) is needed for me, but minus that... You're gunna have a hard time convincing me that ANY adjustments need to be made from here

I'm just starting to experiment with it.......I drew 7 walks one game without doing it though. First strike or not - if you are patient and lay off the crap, the CPU will throw balls.

I'm gonna try to remember to do the step out though and see how it goes....lol

                      DO report back...

The AI throw their share of balls either way, but sitting on & capitalizing on a constant 1st pitch meat ball leaves me feeling like I'm cheating...

this is without the doubt the best sliders ever why?

because every single game varies, it's amazing I have had 1-0 games I have had 11-8 games where home runs are being hit everywhere. I have had 7-4 games where no home runs are hit. and that is exactly what baseball is, sometimes the starting pitcher has it on the day or some days he just has a bad day, I actually had Hamels and Cueto have bad days for the CPU but seen some surprise good days. I have games where pitchers have been wild, or unstoppable. I have been able to draw walks avg about at least 3 a game which is about the average

This is exactly his baseball is it couldn't get anymore real then this. I actually have not seen a triple yet for someone saying they have had heaps, I do see a hell of a lot of doubles on the big grounds though

The "step out" theory does work; it's just remembering to do it. I just take the first pitch if I forget to do it, though, because I'd have at least nine home runs per game if I took advantage of it.

Best slider ever cuz my SP got knocked out of the game by a AAA team. Gave up like 6 runs in 3inng before i was taken out from the game.. though my pitching kinda sucks cuz i threw knuckle curve ball back to back to back and 2 of them went out of the park and one single.

Please try a game or two at Coors Field. I'm sure you will see triples there.
