    Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders

I just played a game with these sliders except that I play on Veteran level for both pitching and hitting. Also, I used guess pitch 1/4 and do guess pitch types and location(95% of time this).

I am the Indians, with myself as a created LF...here is the box score

    Yankess 2 7 0
    Indians 15 12 2

I scored 6 runs in the bottom of the second (batted around +1 more). I hit three homeruns as well in the game (two in that second inning)...love the sliders honestly! I've been playing and tinkering but mostly been on default sliders which yours is not far from so the game plays great out of the box. Good work!! Will be using these for my Indians franchise. So far the team has started 9-3. I've played four of those game, going 2-2 in those games played.

    Great job gentleman!

I'm a longtime The Show fan here. I plan on testing these out and giving my stats back for review once i have a. decent sized sample. I have a question however regarding the set since i have traditionally played with Zone hitting

In an effort to draw walks and take more pitches I would "look" or "sit" on a general location early in counts and let pitches go even if they were strikes if not in my location. Moving from Zone to Timing hitting, what type of approach should be taken at the plate since we dont know where the AI will place the swing cursor? Particularly early in counts? Always look middle? Hot zones?

      Thanks!
Take the exact same approach. I usually take the first pitch unless I notice a particular pitcher pounding the zone. Work the counts as u will draw walks and force some Main Street pitches. The PCI placement is ratings based so swing at quality strikes when in a hitters count and make sure your using contact on 0-2 1-2 counts to fight back in the count.

You will enjoy the stress free nature of times hitting. I used to play zone hitting till I discovered Marino's approach on MLB 11

        Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders

These look great, I am terrible ATM still finding my way around with the cameras and judging ball/strikes but if I get a full game with decent stats ill post em.

with the API at default you choose your own location to pitch to right? I've been playing with API off but following the catchers suggestions with his fingers in term of what pitch to throw, but I pick my own location and I enjoy that

        One finger: X
        Two fingers: O
        Three fingers: Triangle
        Four fingers: Square
        Four fingers being wiggled: R1

I also feel timing hitting is the only proper way to play for me to make the batters individual stats actually matter. I have a question tho, timing = button hitting where the PCI is not used therefore could you use Pure Analog hitting with no PCI and have the same result? Isnt that the same as timing hitting except your using the right stick instead of a button? I know the stride has an impact but you could always turn that to 0. Would using analog hitting (without zone) be the same or am I wrong about that?

Dont you think maybe you should move up to All Star? I dont know if I'd be able to enjoy beating a team by that much. I understand it happens every so often but I love a challenge.. To each their own though

I lost to them the first game of the series I played them. The box score for that one was:

            Yankees 2 6 0
            Indians 0 4 1

So I definitely don't get that type of offense on the regular. And I did score 6 runs in one inning that last game. If I continue to smash like that then of course I will at the least move the hitting difficulty up to Allstar. But I've played on Vet since I started playing this game in 2010 and it plays well. We'll see what happens after some more games...i'll keep updating progress on here to give feedback on the sliders (with Veteran difficulty).

Is anyone here using anything other than "X" to hit?

I normally don't use power or contact swings, and when I have they don't seem to work out too well for me.

Do you have to swing a little more ahead of the pitch with a power swing than with the other two?

I use normal swing on hitting until I have two strikes against in a pitchers count. Ex. 0-2, 1-2. I never use power swing I get home runs on normal and sometimes contact swing.

this is what i do and once it gets to 0-2, 1-2 i use contact swing to stay alive like armor said. i only use power swing on 3-1 or 3-0 counts with my big bats(i.e clean up hitter). even then i use power swing sparingly, as in if they leave something right over the plate that i think i can take out da park.

Starting my first game with these sliders. Looking forward to how the game will be played. I'm hoping to get about 3 full games in tonight.

First game with this set and I beat the Braves as the Reds 12-6. I hit 5 hrs and they hit 3.
I had 17 hits to their 8. I hit the ball very hard the whole game. Scored 8 runs off Hudson in the first 2 innings.

Play at least 15-20 games. Baseball is about sample size. The great thing about this game is you will be hot...then cold as ice.

                        Trust me.

Game 2 was the complete opposite as I won as the White Sox 1-0 over the Indians.
Alexi Ramirez hit a solo hr for me in the 8th. Sale pitched great for me going 8 and striking out 8. I only had 4 hits and they had 10.

A&S this was my first game using classic pitching. As of 1 game I'm not a fan, but I dont want to just jump to this conclusion only playing one game. Is there any tips you have for using classic pitching? Does holding the button down longer increase velocity? control? I got lit up for 3 runs on 4 straight hits to open the game as it seems there was little control to where I wanted to locate pitchers, and to where they actually went.

I use power swings here and there. Typically when I'm ahead like 2-0 or 3-1. I'll also possibly try one on the first pitch if I have runners on 2nd/3rd with one out.

I'd say I use normal 90% of the time and power/contact 5% each.

I hold the button until the release... not sure if it means anything but that is what I do. Also you have to understand not all pitches r going to go to there exact location all the time. The players attributes play a major role pitching in classic mode. Am I correct in this Marino & A/S?
