Veteran Sliders
Just wanted to know if anyone had any good veteran sliders? I am using TNK's sliders with the only change being I am playing at a veteran level. Everything seems ok except I am (human) am averaging 10 + hits a game and the computer is constantly throwing strikes. Also my pitchers seems to be striking everyone out, any suggestions?Tags: None -
Re: Veteran Sliders
Don't mean to sound like a douche, but I happen to think my veteran sliders are playing out pretty well, so far. Take a look at my thread. There are a few guys using them, but I'd like to get as much feedback from the community as I can.
What Pitching interface do you use? Classic, Meter, or Analog? -
Re: Veteran Sliders
Armor's hyrid set literally saved the game for me. I was so frustrated hitting on All-Star. I had been tweaking sliders for three months, and I was on the verge of just giving up on the game. Had I not gone back to Armor's hybrid sliders, I wouldn't have come up with my set. If you compare my set to Armor's, there are a lot of similarities, so if I was going to recommend a set other than mine, I'd definitely point to Armor's.
Two things about your pitching. Number one, it's possible that you may need to raise your difficulty level. Personally, I've never pitched on anything lower than All-Star. If you're pitching on Veteran, and you see that you're striking out CPU batters at a higher rate than you should be, I'd suggest moving up to All-Star. That is currently where I'm pitching at with Human pitcher control and consistency both set to 3. Keep in mind that I use Classic pitching. I made the switch from Meter to Classic this year, and I'm never looking back. I'm a big ratings guy, and Classic pitching provides results based on the individual ratings of the players versus how good you are at timing the meter or analog bar. Some people say that Classic is boring because all you do is press a button. I personally don't think that's true. There is still a timing element to Classic pitching, but it's not as dominant as on the other pitching interfaces. You still need to find your pitcher's sweet-spot in his release point, and you can decide if you want to give minimum or maximum effort on each pitch. Again, I've been using this for the majority of this year, and I can't imagine pitching any other way. The variety in pitcher performance alone makes it worth it. Sometimes your ace will have it, and sometimes he won't. Sometimes your #5 starter will perform like a scrub, and sometimes he'll have ace-type stuff.
But if you're using meter pitching and you decide that you want to stick with it, I've read in various slider threads that you need to lower human control and consistency. TNK's set is based on meter pitching, and I think he has control and consistencey down at 2. I've heard other guys say that they've lowered it to zero. That's something you'll need to test out on your own if you're going to stick with Meter. Again, if you're pitching on Veteran, I think it might be a good idea to move up to All-Star before adjusting any sliders.Comment

Re: Veteran Sliders
So you are using Veteran for hitting and Allstar for pitching? Whats the biggest difference between classic pitching and meter?
I did ok with All Star pitching it just seemed like I had one horribly bad inning every game and the CPU NEVER swung at pitches out of the strike zone
Thanks for the tips! Love this website!!Comment

Meter and Classic pitching are very different from each other. As I mentioned in my previous post, when using Classic pitching, the pitcher's performance is greatly determined by player ratings. With Meter, the pitcher's performance is determined more by the user's skill in timing the pitching meter. So with Classic, regardless of how good you might've been with using the meter, your pitcher's performance depends on his ratings, while also taking into account his control and confidence for that particular game, which is much truer to real-life, in my opinion.
As you raise the difficlutly level, the CPU becomes more intelligent. So if you became accustomed to striking out CPU batters on certain pitches on Veteran, you may not see the same result on All-Star, because the CPU has much more plate discipline and doesn't tend to chase as many pitches outside the strike zone. Believe me, you will see a realistic amount of strikeouts using All-Star pitching with a couple of minimal slider adjustments. I've had Kershaw absolutely dominate the opposing team by pitching a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts. I've also seen him get lit up for 5 runs in the first 3 innings. Again, that's the beauty of Classic pitching.
Hope I answered your questions. Cheers!!!Comment

Re: Veteran Sliders
On all-star hitting, will the CPU pitcher throw more balls? I'm on veteran and it seems like all I'm getting is strikes and it's frustrating because I want to work the count. It's annoying to see the CPU starter with 38 pitches through 5 innings. I keep trying to work on my plate discipline but it doesn't matter when they keep throwing strikes.
Bonus info: I've only had the game for about a week, before that I'd been playing The Show 11, and honestly baseball is the only sport where I've never really tweaked sliders. As far as veteran pitching (metered) goes, I get a lot of strikeouts too, but I also give up a lot of hits, it's weird, like every at bat is either a hit or a strikeout (couple walks sprinkled in). Last night I had a 20-13 game, and then this afternoon I had a 3-2 11 inning game that was 1-1 til the 9th.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Check out itbeme23's CPU pitching settings or mine. I am sure you will draw walks and see CPU pitchers throw a good amount if balls.
I draw an average of 2-3 walks a game. Sometimes 5' sometimes none. But the variety is there and the more games you play the more you will notice strike percentages to hover around 60ish percent overall. Now Playing on PS5:
