Lost and in desperate need of help

Ok, here is my situation. i am loving 13 so far. i am a long time player of the show. the last full season i have had in was with 08. Back then i was able to play on All-Star and really enjoy the game.

however over the years the dev have made the game more and more challenging. This year i was happy to see they had made the lower two levels (Beginner and Rookie) more adaptive for those of us that are not quite superstar at this series.

I'm currently playing on rookie, having a blast but slowly getting bored with winning every game by 10-20 runs and having no challenge.

This is the important part... due to the changes to Guess Pitch this year i am at a loss at the plate. i refuse to use the newly implamented way of guess pitch. I am and always have been due to games coming out with hiting aids as far back as i can remember, a see ball hit ball hitter.

I have tried adjusting sliders on Rookie but too much offense too early all game long.

i have tried Veteran on default but again due to my insane lack of plate vision, discipline etc. i get extremely frustrated and quit.

So what i am in need of is either s slider set for rookie which will give the CPU a over all better offense and me a lower ability to produce runs.

    OR..

I need a slider set for veteran/Al-Star that will allow me to see more pitches in the zone but not have me win with as much offense as i have been having.

I come to you the masters of the sliders to beg for your help.

I use timed hitting and meter pitching if this helps at all..

Thank you to any of you that accept this challenge to create a custom slider set for me.

The screen doesn't change between difficulties. The size of the strike zone doesn't change between difficulties. I can't think of any reason for you to see such marked differences between the two levels... except, for pitch speed.

Pitch Speed is about 2-3 points different with every difficulty level. That's a very wide gap, and a small increase in pitch speed can easily make the difference between 15 hits and 15 strikeouts.

So my suggestion to you is to give Veteran another try, but set Pitch Speed at 0. Play a few games at 0 and slowly work your way up to whatever you feel the best setting is.

From what I gather, reading your post, you only felt over your head batting, not pitching. You didn't mention any problems pitching on Veteran.

If you feel Veteran hitting is quite a bit of challenge to you because of the way CPU pitchers use more pitches out of the strike zone, then I would stay on Rookie but try decreasing HUM hitting sliders. Lowering, Contact/Timing, Solid Hit, etc. That just makes it harder for you to hit.

You could also do fine tuning of how CPU pitchers pitch by varying Pitcher Control/Consistency slider, but I would first try just lowering HUM hitting sliders. The less slider adjustments you make, the better you understand what you really want to change in game setting.

Re: Lost and in desperate need of help

My major problem with any level above Rookie is the amount of balls out of the strike zone thrown by the cpu. I can physically see the ball going in a direction that is not going to be a trike but i have nothing telling me not to push the button to swing.

like i said i have been using one crutch or another that a game has offered as far back as front page sports baseball on pc back in the laste 90's.

in that series you could have the ball pitched right down the middle, which i did all the time.

Then there was high heat from 99-2003, they had some sort of hitting aid that allowed you to hit easier on pc as well.

Then there was ASB 05, oh man this is the one that reallly got me hooked... low and center gp kinda of feature.. rocked it all they way to a record setting season...

MVP 05 not really a hitting aid but you had the colored balls that allowed you to see the pitch type out of the pitchers hand.

one thing i was able to do back with MVP 05 was lay down the controller until i had two strikes. Someone here i think as the one that got me doing that.

Anyway back to our beloved series here.. 07, 08 loved had a guess pitch feature that allowed you to sit on pitch type and location. Which didn't mean your alway going to hit bombs or doubles. missed the playoffs in my first year with 08 on HOF, after startign the season on All-Star.

So this year, with the tweaks they have made to GP for those of you that play online (dont know why they just didn't give everyone the option of using it as is or the new way, hopefully in 14 they will give that too us), but for those of us that have been using it as a crutch for basically decades it was like having to learn something all over agaln.

I'm thinking about going back and trying to use the newly formatted GP and see if i can make it work... I'm really at a cross roads right now.

I like having all the pitches in the zone as possible, but ....

i have tried tweaking sliders on rookie for one game, i still had too much offense and the cpu was also having too much offense early on.

i can't explain what im lookiing for exactly, i want more low scoring games, but not nail biters every game.

lower amount of hits per game for both sides (5-9 per game for both sides on avg not exact numbers)

im not looking for pure sim, i want a balance between realism and arcade i guess. pure sim is too stressful and pure arcade is a blast but too boring (when reporting on it on a site)

Like last night before bed i tried loading A&S sliers and they were good, but again i think i laid off one pitch in the four or five innings that i played before turning it off.

like i said i can physically see the ball not going to be a strike i just have no way of not swinging at it. i have swung at pitch outs, balls that would have hit me, balls helmet high and dirt low, and a mile outside.

i just get anxious i guess when the ball is thrown that i have to swing or something i have no clue.

i have had pitchers have pitch counts against me on rookie which wee super low after five innings with 0-5 balls taken all game. because as Lyons says in the game...

"they are hacking at everything and i mean everything"

        or ...

"hey they finally took a pitch, finally it is about time"

That is what i am most frustrated with, i hate the strike out period it si the worst thing in all of baseball when your batting. i can handle the nubbers, and all the outs i make when i make contact but i hate striking out.

i think that is why i love rookie soo much is that i dont strike out i dont have too because the ball is in the zone most of the time. yes i still swing and miss on the pitches they do throw out of the zone but they are very rare on rookie.

Well that is the best i can say it i think...

Thanks to Nomo, and Bobhead for responding to this, it means a lot that some one took the time to actually care lol.

when i did lower the user hiting sliders i did it by 2 (meaning i had them at 3) which i guess was still too high even on rookie. but when i took the cpu hitter sliders up too gave them too much offense for my liking.

yes pitching is fine for me on Veteran no problems there except when i leave the ball up in the zone and get punished for it.

ok well off to get ready for work before i leave in 30 minutes or so.

again thanks to Nomo and Bob for responding to this... i hope that one day i can find a fix for my issues on this game...
