    Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

Well, as we await the OS Roster awesomeness, many of you are wondering, "What kind of cool slider set can I use to have some sim-style games, where runners beat out infield hits that they should, runner slide into second on a double, just as the ball gets there, fielders have to take great routes to the ball, or they pay dearly, and the game as a whole plays like the pro game you love?"

These sliders will give you 3-1 games where the defense is the king, or some 10-2 blowouts where your pitching staff implodes.

Things you will NEED to do, and if you are not interested, that's fine, just be warned.

I actually have a clipboard on hand, and allow myself to scout the opposing team in their first at bat. Write down the spray tendencies, zones to stay away from (hot zones) and where they are weakest at the plate. MOVE YOUR DEFENSE. I have the sliders so that you are NOT going to get to a ball that gets pulled down the line if you are playing a straight up defense. Use the scouting report, and get the outfielders situationally ready to make a play. Get your faster fielders out there for defense late in the game. Play small ball if you must. These sliders reward the players who ... wait for it... play and manage the game like you would need to on the field. Pitch around the big guns, and pitch smart. This year's AI logic will get fooled if you pitch smart, and use the plate. Pitch like a pitcher baby.

Be careful trying to take extra bases, this is not Default. Your doubles in the outfield with Molina are done here on these settings. Fast guys are fast, slow guys need to be careful.

Same in the outfield. You are not going to run down balls in the gap like Willy Mays with Melky Cabrera. Play smart, and have fun.

***I am REALLY disappointed with the missing Homerun Camera being taken out. I HATE it, it steals the presentation and realism value, and maybe it gets re-instituted with a patch***

Try these sliders for a 5 game set. I know some of you will give up after a game, but honestly, these sliders are for guys who like to see the game unfold like it does in real life. This includes, most importantly, the pace and speed of the game, with regards to when throws get back to the infield, when runners reach first in relation to the ball, and how you can take a chance with a B speed player, but get punished for playing stupid.

Have fun, feedback welcome, and let me know how your games pan out. I think you sim guys will love them.

      Re: Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

Had a ten strike out game with Peavy against the O's and a 6-5 walkoff win with Pedroia hitting a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth.

      Oriole 5 10 1
      Red Sox 6 8 0

Ortiz homerun (with Pullback HR cam!!)

These sliders with Quick Counts On have been just so much fun this year.

If you are waiting for the OSFM official Rosters and want to try something out, suspend your attitude towards 0 Pitch speed, and let these sliders play out in a game that mimics a game on TV as well as any I have used.

The 0 pitch speed makes it easier to read the pitches, sure, but I nerfed the solid hits, and the power and the contact enough so that you need to read where the pitch is going, as well as the speed, and your reward comes from tendencies and patience, defense and positioning.

Give it a shot for a game or two.

      You might be surprised.

        Re: Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

I'm going to try these soon. I'm playing a season and have noticed the CPU runners are faster on the base paths and faster in the field.

The CPU has better arms too. For example. I'll have a fast runner on 2nd with a deep fly ball to Center. I tag up and get thrown out at 3rd almost every time. The CPU makes it just about every time - fast and mediocre runners.

I've also seen in the outfield the players I control are very slow when getting to balls in the gap and almost all rely throws the outfield stops, picks the ball up and soft tosses to the rely man. I assume I'm not preloading enough hence the slow response.

Thanks for the sliders - I'll try these soon.

          Re: Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

Killer game last night with a total of five hits between the teams, with David Price and Jon Lester showing why they are the beasts of the East with their lefty dominance.

          Red Sox 1 2 0
          Rays 0 3 1

Winning run comes on a walk, wild pitch and an error by Longo, who air mails the throw into the seats, and Gomes scores.

Lester fans 9, Price K's 11 Sox, and Uehara gets a save with the 1-2-3 ninth.

Loving this game, and loving Quick Counts, as I get in two games in a one-game time frame.

            Re: Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

Have made a huge transition to Analog Hitting (From Zone Hitting with buttons), and have pretty much discovered a new game.

Having to actually pull a pitch by moving the Analog stick up and in (2 oclock) with a lefty, or pushing a ball to left field (9 o'clock) with a lefty is a thing of bueaty, and immense frustration (in a good way) I guess what I love about it, is that if you try and Analog stick pull a ball that is off the plate, you roll over it, and it turns into a weak ground ball to the middle infielders, which is how it ought to be.

I managed three hits the other night against the Reds, and really, this is going to require some work on my part to get to be a productive offensive unit.

These sliders work great for the Analog hitting crew, and with the 0 pitch speed, allows you to work on stride, timing, and hitting the ball where it is pitched.

Have at it, and have fun.

              Re: Stealy's 2014 Real Game Sliders 2014

I know they do not want any slider talk in their Hybrid Roster Thread, but anyone using the Hybrid Rosters, should try these sliders, with the new player re-ratings included in that set.

It is like getting an entirely new game.

Playing the outfield with the re-rate, coupled with the player speed, reaction times, and a mediocre outfielder, is like a white knuckle ride on the Tilt a Whirl.

The new dynamic defense has you chasing after the landing area for the ball, and with the better outfielders, you get a quicker, and more accurate view of where the ball is headed. This allows your outfielder to run to the spot where the ball is going to land, and with a high enough rating, accurately portrays that area.

With a rookie, or a lower-rated fielder, the dynamic landing cursor moves much more quickly, and does not always give up the exact location for best making the catch. This addition in and of itself is brilliant, but add to it the overhaul of the ratings of the fielders, and the sliders convincingly representing the speed of the game... is exquisite!

Plus, it makes the risk /reward for playing the heavy-hitting RBI machine, who might be a liability in the field, a tougher decision that the light-hitting speedster with a high-value rating with his glove.

If you chose to give the Hybrid Re-Rated Rosters a go, play a three game set with these sliders, and let me know what you think.

Ive used analong since they put it in the game, and I cant imagine using anything else. I use analog for everything. Just seems more life like to me using analog versus pushing a button to throw or hit. I definitely struggle at times, especially hitting and know I would do much better hitting if I used the button, but just seems boring now to me to just push a button since analog was added into the game.

Your sliders are close to what mine are, except I have to have hitting higher than default for me, because I struggle to hit with this game and always have, but love that its not easy, as it shouldnt be if you trying to replicate real baseball.

Okay, for those of you who are going to use the new Hybrid V3, these sliders make for an extremely realistic, and well executed game.

Care must be taken to position defenses, and you really want to pitch to spots, as the CPU will punish you for not mixing speeds and locations.

The only tweak with these sliders and this roster, is to lower both error setting by one click to the left. The lower-rated defensive stats can lead to errors that you just would never see, but by one click to the left, it cleans it up nicely.

These guys did a killer job on the roster set, and these sliders match up perfectly for the speed, feel, and overall tempo of the game.

                  Enjoy!
