What is a GOOD SPEED that i can get contact and strike out less? (plus other thing)

    1st

I am on pared sliders and i can get 7 hits in a game or even 10! BUT i strike out like 15 times. what is a good speed so i would get more contact that could turn to be outs, i rather do that then strike out 15+ times in 1 game.

    2nd

Damn i dunno wtf is going, but i can't seem to get good run production, i keep getting like 9 HITS or so in games and........ONE FREAKING RUN!. it pisses me off to see the AI actually get good run production, you know 2 runs on 4 hits and the damn AI seems to always get hits or either ALWAYS get contact no matter where i pitch to them.

i want to be able to get a damn hit when i got runners on base more often, most of the time its either a double play or a fly ball or an amazing catch by the AI ruining my chances of actually getting realistic run production.

well that why i still play in veteran and with guess pitch..makes more extrabase hits..
also although i love this game, i will star5t playing a franchise (pennant) in the japanese game Pro Yakyu 2, i get total realistc results there, although i dont know basic anypplayers, but 989 didnt realise a quality roster update that satisfyed me to start playing me franchise..so i think i am quite done with this game for this year...i do hope next yera is gonna be great...with and editor and more hit variaty.. 989 should really pick this japanese game up and see what is hit variaty.., and i see people sayng that mvp has a great variaty, ok it has quite much , but compareing mvp to this PY2 is the same as compare FIFA to Winning Eleven...

ok see ya joe..i think you sould give this japa game a try..

Hey, just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I get basically the same results. Using Pared's sliders on Veteran, I am getting 8-12 hits a game, striking out 10-16 times a game and scoring 1-4 runs a game. I only will get 0-1 walk a game. I think that is the key. I don't walk enough. It is not the CPU's fault but my own. I hack at too many pitches and third strikes out of the zone. I do have some good games and some bad ones. I think eventually I will get this game down. What frustrates me are the damn wild pitches, it seems like I throw about 5 of them a game and always at least 1-2 runs are given up that way. With a runner in scoring position, I have given up throwing a slider.

MLB>>>>>Japanese baseball, sorry but that circus that they call baseball is not my kind of baseball. MLB is too good to just leave, i am getting HITS and contact on allstar WITHOUT USING GUESS PITCH basically batting MVP STYLE. Thanks but no thanks man.

The wild pitch stuff CAN EASILY be fixed by pitching this way>>

Press X only ONCE, don't press at the area of speed let the game do that by itself, i was just like you at first but now i don't have any wild pitches, funny thing is the AI has some now

Oh i see, well i personally don't hack at many pitches but i usually swing at the first pitch(since MOST of the time is a strike), but when the AI gets me on a 0-2(which seems to happen alot) i am done it is 95 percent of the time a strike out.

I am going to try with speed at 18 or 20, cuz i think that will get me more contact since i am one of these guys that swings right away and can't wait for the pitch to come.

            Hey JOEdellis,

What type of pitches do you strike out on the most? It would seem like you are missing offspeed pitches more from the last statement you made about increasing pitch speed. Personally, I dropped to a pitch speed of 5 & then bumped it up a bit to 7 once I got adjusted to the slower speed. What this allowed me to do was to be able to "see" the pitches for a longer amount of time which increased my walks & decreased my strikeouts.

Here are some other tips to decrease your strikeouts:

            - Study instant replays of your missed swings (MLB hitters do this in real life) to see how you are missing - too early, too late, unde/over the ball?
            - If on Veteran level, only press the X button to swing (do not use the L-stick!). This will cause a higher variety of hits, & should be able to make contact on all pitches in the strike zone if your timing is right.
            - If on All-Star, move your L-stick to the proper zone a split-second before you press the X button. I got better results this way than moving the stick at the same time I pressed the X button.

It's strange that you are striking out so much since you stated that you usually swing at the first pitch. This tells me that you are missing a lot of first pitches which makes me think that your fundamentals are flawed.

I've never had a problem getting extra-base hits, even when I was striking out 15-20 times a game. I'm using Pared's sliders, too, on All-Star. Your lack of runs on a lot of hits tells me that your a) your runners are slow AND/OR b) your CPU throwing sliders are set too high AND/OR c) you're not getting enough extra-base hits meaning you are not making good contact.

Please let us know what level you are playing at & what you see in your instant replays & we might be able to help you out some more.

            Thanks,
            jawgee

Re: What is a GOOD SPEED that i can get contact and strike out less? (plus other thing)

I am playing on ALLSTAR with Pared Sliders, like i said before I CAN get contact and plenty of hits( 9 avg ) But the problem is scoring in a realistic manner, like i would like to get 3 runs off 6 hits but i tell ya i had games with 10 hits and only scored 1!!.

in that game i would have guys on base and then the damn AI would get either a double play or catch a laser liner with an amazing catch, ruining the chances of scoring add the 10+ strike outs and you can pretty much tell the AI killed me yet again.

After playing 4 straight games where the AI scored like 10+ in 3 of those game and everything they touched turning into a hit, I HAD TO put the power and contact down to 11 and 3 respectively. i think pared sliders for the AI makes them way too power and on ALLSTAR they are already powerful enough.

As far as the speed of the pitches, i want them to look FAST and not slow and it worked yesterday when i played a game with speed at 19(or was it 18?) and i got striked out like 9 times and got pretty good contact and hits, 6 runs on 9 hits. interesting enough the damn AI was still a beast getting hitting like barry bonds on steriods ending up with 8 runs on 12 hits.

Hey JOEdellis, have you ever tried playing the game with auto baserunning on? Try a game or two with it on and aggressiveness at 20. The runners tend to score at times maybe you would not manually. If anything you can watch how the CPU handles your runners and attempt to do the same manually. I play on All Star with the D-backs and lead the league in runs scored. I use auto base running all the time. I'm lazy. Hope this helps.

Not that you guys care but I'm finished with this game. It's either to hard or to easy. I have tried all combinations of sliders and still cant find a decent set. Good Luck!

I found that speed at 17 and contact at 2, i get realistic hits.
