    Pitch Lag

Played offline since 2007. Never online for one minute, until this month (decided to finally see what DD is; got hooked).

(I know about Game Mode on TV, I know about finding the right internet settings, I know about using LAN cord to increase speed...)

Is it "normal" for my pitches online to "pause" briefly as they reach the plate? No matter how much I increase my internet speed, I keep seeing it.

    Re: Pitch Lag

Pitch speeds and timing windows may differ between online and offline but online should be just as smooth as offline...so no it should not pause. I have experienced this in the past when my opponent had poor internet but haven't seen that issue recently.

Also I am not very tech savvy but this may be a "ping rate" issue and not necessarily a speed rate issue.

Thanks. I am not very tech savvy either ... but any information you can share about what a "ping rate" issue is and how to solve it?

Sorry, my original post referred to increasing internet speed. That was poor language choice. What I mean is that I tried ... LAN straight from router into PS4, I switched TV to game mode, I made some changes in my DNS codes and got my upload and download rates to increase ...

Yes, it's normal. You see it to varying degrees based on the connection speeds of both players, but that slowdown/pause is due to the game desyncing slightly to allow the batter to hit without having to compensate for internet latency. The slowdown is only seen from the pitcher's side. In addition, if the batter makes contact you'll usually see a short pause at the moment of contact, which is the game syncing back up to allow for fielding and baserunning to happen fairly at the same time.

I don't really know, but if I remember correctly, it came up as a possible reason for the "hiccup" issue you are describing...sorry I wish I could be of more help. Someone here has to have the answer or it must have been addressed here at some point so maybe search the threads in this forum or maybe Google the problem.

              THANK YOU!!!!!

Now I can stop trying to "fix" the problem.

              You are awesome.

                Re: Pitch Lag

The "not seeing any lag" while batting side is BS. Pitches coming in online do not look anything like offline.

Offline is smooth and you can follow pitches coming in, while online pitches look choppy alot of the time and almost look like they are missing frames.

There are different extremes so I'm guessing this is a p2p connection issue.
