Re: Official 1995-1998 Classic Roster Project

Just to keep everyone updated, I am not going to be releasing a preview for my 1997 set.

I am however, done with 3 teams in the NL now and the AL is all complete.

I plan on pushing through this set in a more timely fashion so I can get to the granddaddy of them all, the 1998 set.

1998 will be a blast, but it will also be the most time consuming.

Either way, this set and the 1996 set should hold you guys over until I can get 1998 finished.

        Right on, my man.

You're going to love using the Tribe this year.

Yeah, they lost Lofton, Belle, Baerga, Burnitz, etc...

But they got Matt Williams, David Justice, Tony Fernandez, Marquis Grissom, and two young pitchers - Jaret Wright and (skinny) Bartolo Colon.

That team could have very easily been champs that year.

I'm liking this 97 a set a lot because it brings up a lot of good, young players. Guys like Todd Helton and Mike Cameron. It's also when Andruw Jones and Nomar started playing daily.

What I really can't wait for though is getting to 1998 so I can use the two expansion teams (who both have wicked throwbacks) and two awesome first year hurlers named Kerry Wood and John Rocker.

I think you guys will like this 1997 set a lot.

I might have said it earlier in this thread but a 1998 roster set up for franchise play e.g. maybe the top 100 prospects or each team's top 10 or something added in with low rated generics...then imagine taking an expansion team and working to build them up. Now that sounds SO awesome!

Haha, man that was cheesy as hell, but I laughed.

I have 7 teams left, and without a doubt plan on making that 6, maybe 5 by tomorrow morning.

There are some pretty wicked teams in this set, most notably LA. Their entire staff is lights out. Starters and relievers, with the exception of Worrell who just laid an egg that year. Dreifort however, he just went off.

Wilton Guerrero and Todd Zeile also rounded out the lineup nicely.

Probably doing Montreal next, and you know what that means - Big Vlad!

lmao yeah it was a little , lack of sleep my dude lol, but yeah the Dodgere's were very serious that year, and still couldn't get the job done, which really amazed alot of people, just goe's to show though, how tough the league was and of course my tribe. Vlad def was a pure Monster no doubt about, pitcher's hated to see him in the on deck box moreless at the plate.

                    Another update:

I have Philly and Pittsburgh left, and barring anything extraordinary should have one finished tonight.

I'm hoping I will be able to do the other one tomorrow and then make one more run through the players for misc. checks before release.

Should be up soon. Really fun set IMO.

Thanks. I'm sure you'll enjoy the 97 set as well. #KerryWoodIn98

Anyways, I am running into a stupid, yet still problematic issue here. I'm getting a pretty decent storm where I live, which normally isn't an issue, but the last two times it did this the power went out.

I still have about 3/4 of the Phillie's position players left, but the good news is I have the other edits and their pitchers all done.

If the weather lets up for about 30-45 minutes, you can expect this set within the next few hours. I am 100% committed to getting this set out by morning, but I won't risk losing progress in the middle of a storm either.

Will start a new thread when this is up.

Oh dude, no problem. Thanks for the support.

Already have the shell of Arizona and Tampa made up. The fact they each have their original stadium and uniforms in the game makes it that much sweeter.

                            Will keep working away.

Haha, man I can tell you're just dying for that 98 set. (Don't worry - I think most of us, myself included, are as well)

I have been meaning to put together the 1998 thread a little sooner than usual with some photo updates and status updates as well. I will probably get around to that later sometime.

For now I have 7 teams done in the NL. I want to finish them soon obviously, but there really is no way to cut corners or move quickly without sacrificing quality.

I'll touch a lot more on this project when I throw the thread up, but rest assured it is getting my full attention whenever time permits.

And thank you for the encouragement. It's a lot of work and I am always glad to hear when people enjoy these sets.
