Ok, cool. I want them to do absolutely nothing. I just was under the impression that regardless of what you did, the settings locked in at the beginning of the season determined how everything was going to work no matter what. So I make the profile before starting a season or within it, guess it doesn't matter?

I live in Paris. I'm never selling this game to anyone anyway.

As long as when you start the franchise you CHOOSE all 30 teams to "control"(because you can control them or assign them a profile that has the CPU control them)....you can change profiles as will.
Whatever you want to assign them or take away from them...you can do that at any time in the season/franchise.
If you do assign everything to the CPU...you can STILL go into a team and do whatever you like without even changing the profile(trade...signing.......but lineups rotations will get changed unless you make them manual)

The major reason for single team control is, and I don't really know how to explain it.. the game feels less "messy", less "crowded" when the only thing it's showing me is MY team. So normally I'd go into CPU Roster Control in the menu (having turned it on at the start) and that allows me to do any transactions anyway in Season Mode from Inactive to Active and also batting orders. But it just feels more like it's MY team's season. Not a full season of teams within which I only play with one of them. I know... extremely neurotic.
But it was more the fact that in-game, out of town scores were never there or already finished. So that live scores element was gone and having it made my playoff run SO much fun this year. It was like watching mlb.tv and checking other scores in the division. However, I did notice something weird. In the playoffs, no matter what I set the rotation and bullpen to, it changed it after every game. Probably because I left the teams at a 4-man rotation instead of 5 so after every game it would fill it. Still, on CPU Roster Control, that probably shouldn't have happened.
I played this year on Season again (wrote about this in my blog post) because I didn't want the mess of all the minors teams and balancing all the rosters for the right numbers. But the fact is that with my new style of playing this past year, I don't DO anything but important season ending injuries or blockbuster deals. So in that case, I won't be fidgeting with the minors anyway but I'd benefit from not having to dig through the FA list for any players not on teams, injured etc. In the end, not that it's related too much to our topic, but having played with my stat simulation-style I'm running now which involves leaving the teams as they are for the most part all year, I got through a full NHL, The Show, and two FIFA seasons and even had time for Be a Legend modes. I've never done that before. I've only fully finished about 4 The Show seasons...ever. So not doing real life transactions has been a big change but I actually had fun. I didn't stop for a week while I updated rosters. So, in the end, if I can have the fun of watching the live score ticker with full team control so nothing changes all year unless I say so, I'm willing to try what you've suggested.

Blown away. This totally worked. Now I can control all the transactions, put injured guys on DL as much time as I want so I don't forget about them, do any moves I feel necessary and using a 25-man roster I can even have it so that I don't worry about messed up lineups.
Consequently, is there not any way to stop fatigue affecting players? I usually go in and crank everyone's stamina and that stops ridiculous substitutions from happening. The problem I have with that part of the game is that, in my opinion, when the CPU replaces players they really mess up lineups and substitutions badly. I'd rather avoid fatigue altogether if it's going to activate that substitution algorithm.

I did this STEP BY STEP and was able to do it with one player. I go to DL screen and NOTHING!
