Also what am I supposed to rename the roster set? Am I supposed to leave people confused as to what the ratings are based on? You made the spreadsheet. By calling it Hybrid I am directly giving you credit. Do you want money is that it? I don't get what the problem is at ALL. I just feel like I've been thrown completely under the bus here and frankly I'm tired of it. I don't feel like I did much wrong at all other than the naming of the roster. And to me that is far from the massive deal people are making it out to be here. I didn't copy your work on a dime I created guys like Lucas Sims and Mallex Smith for the Braves. I edited 30-40 pitchers from scratch. Yes I'm capable of using my own brain. I just wanted to get the best rosters out to the community that I could. It's a shame to me the reaction that I'm seeing. Really makes you wonder why you put in the work to begin with.

You are looking at this in the wrong light buddy. If you don't see where you are wrong here than you need to do some serious searching. When I was young and stupid I used to be just like you. I thought I did no wrong and if people let me know how they felt about something that they were correct about I wouldn't hear anything about it. I grew up though. I'm guessing you're young and if you're not, I'm worried about you...PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

Ahhh, you made it personal. My original post was a response to rjackson. You were mentioned in it because that's what this topic was about from the get go. I simply stated what it looked like you were doing/handling the feedback from a guy reading from the sidelines. I'm sure many people saw it the same way. You responded to the gentlemen that asked you politely to not name this project OSFM Hybrid the wrong way.T.K.Comment

Name your roster whatever you like.
I'm with rjackson on this one....this place used to be fun and communal now its very dark and rigid....like a prison maybe.

Ask yourself this - next year if someone came along and started a roster called OSFM (even if they did put in the work and it wouldn't just a straight hack job) do you think that Knight, Ridin and all of the guys involved in creating OSFM for years now would be upset? My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: Hybrid + OSFM
OK I was like Threebs before posting. And I agree with him. If you don't read the bolded part one would think that this is the official OSFM Hybrid roster that Willard and his team do every year. Because I am guessing with the official Hybrid are using the same spreadsheet you used for their roster. And naming it OSFM Hybrid is also something that Willard also always uses. Another indication that a nonforum member would think that it's the work of Willard and his team. So I can see where WTNY and Willard are coming from it seems like, to me, that you ripped off their roster.Comment

LMAO coming from the guy whining about not having an ETA in the OSFM V2 or not having a list of corrections in front of him, disregarding the fact that the corrections thread, he seemingly failed to read through, is in fact the list of corrections he desperately seeks. The problem isn't the forum, it's the *** **** human race!T.K.Comment

Re: Hybrid + OSFM
This is my last post in this thread. None of us need added "drama" over a video game.
Secondly, keep the name, change the name...whatever. Your roster, your choice. If people like it or not, the vault will tell you that. Good luck in advance answering all of the future questions about "how does this roster compare to...." I don't envy you.
Third, you've got a roster that some guys might actually really like to use, so I'd urge folks to start posting about this roster itself..and not how it came to be. It seems we've talked that out.
Finally, no hard feelings.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Hybrid + OSFM
I have no issue that redsfan respects our work enough that he wanted to go ahead and do this - he helped out a lot on the OSFM and Hybrid in the past as have you and many others, all I ask is for the roster to have a different name so as not to confuse users because as you say the Hybrid has all the bells and whistles and this one doesn't quite. As for ETA's we can have that discussion on the Hybrid roster thread - this is redsfan's thread and is not the place to discuss it.
I am also a firm believer in community with these rosters in the sense of I am also wanting community participation in creating my rosters, whether it is grunt work or actual input of ideas or information. I don't think all these spin off rosters are good for OS IMO. It is confusing for newcomers.Comment

Re: Hybrid + OSFM
First of all, I'm not sure this is really relevant and I am apologizing in advance for further hijacking poor red's fan's thread here.
Secondly, I respectfully disagree with every single corner of rjackson's post above. Like, really strongly disagree with all of it.
I think regulars here are already aware of that. The direction things have gone the past few years - not just recently - is what inspired me to make these comments.
In no way shape or form is any roster maker ever required to make their data/rosters public. We do this at our own behest when we feel the time is right, end of story. If people want it badly enough, they will do it themselves (like redsfan4life here has in a way). We do this for free under our own free will and because it's a hobby. To say that anything must be made public is absurd. This is not a FOIA-requestable issue. This is private property unless it's made public on purpose and I'm sorry to see the out-of-control entitlement mentality these days. Why should roster makers be treated like/thought of as unpaid employees because someone is not quite enjoying their video game enough? How is it not a community just because the rosters don't come out on your timetable?
I am sorry if you perceive it that way and that was fully expected. I was hoping that some on here would perceive it in another way or maybe you'd be open-minded about it.
Yes, if I want a specific roster done a certain way, I do it. I've done it. I've helped with rosters. My time doesn't allow me to or I'd do a roster right now.
I encourage others to share things all of the time (even though I might not actually use them). It is ironic to me that you make accusations of entitlements when I have to navigate these issues with my employees daily and you guys hide your data and overreact to others using it like it is copyrighted material. It is perception and I hope you have an open mind, consider the full history of what inspired hybrid into existence to begin with, and look at it objectively.
Thirdly, a community is not only about taking and feeding the bottomless pitted monster. A community will not function properly if there is only whining, expectations, and taking. Those roster makers who are willing to put in long hours for nothing other than the satisfaction of making something good (there are many such guys on here) and that people will enjoy when it's ready; why is that wrong? Because someone's impatiently waiting/refreshing their screen? C'mon, that's ridiculous. As for the OS'ers "afraid to post" for fear of being "yelled at", I'd suggest that they grow a spine (insofar as TOS will allow, of course) and speak for themselves and continue to shut people out, but we really don't need more ETA posts so nevermind that thought. Is it that hard to either answer or ignore? Update post #1? Say it might take a couple months if you want to look for another roster? That's all they are asking - not April 31st at noon.
Bottom line, rjackson, although I respect you, you're just unhappy that I haven't shared my contract info spreadsheet with you like you've been PM'ing me about hence your soapbox speech in here. Again, I understand your perception but asking for 3 columns of an existing spreadsheet which I was using to try and help you and the community is more like the cherry on top of the behavior I've seen here and the shift in attitude. Despite your perceptions, I have looked at this with integrity and objectivity. But it's this type of tirade/entitlement that makes people like me even less wanting to share stuff because I am not sensing any gratitude whatsoever, not even a faint morsel of it. Is that why you do rosters, for recognition on an internet board? Who really is entitled here?
Listen, look at OSFM. A group of people work on it. They get our eternal thanks and recognition. Why? It is basically open-sourced and encouraged to be altered and shared. I'm sorry if you are not seeing my points due to misperceptions. I just feel like we aren't learning from our mistakes.

Re: Hybrid + OSFM
While I try not to engage in on-line drama, because let's face it, we are all talking about a video game here. Whether it's me or any of the numerous guys on here doing sliders, or Willard, WTNY, or Knight and Co. releasing their respective rosters, what it really comes down to is us making adjustments, edits, amendments (whatever term tickles your fancy) to a VIDEO GAME. As somebody already pointed out, this is a hobby which we all enjoy, and we CHOOSE to share these edits with the community.
Now, I understand why Willard and WTNY had an issue with Redsfan for releasing a roster with the "hybrid" name because it will inevitably cause confusion, and flood THEIR thread with countless, unnecessary, "Is this your roster?" question. I think that's already been well-established at this point. However, I think Redsfan didn't do any of this with ill-intent. In fact, even before he changed the thread title, he did put in bold that these were not Willard's and WTNY's hybrid rosters. And as a result of the requests by both Willard and WTNY to change the thread title, he did. Now, I'm not at home to figure out if he renamed the rosters or not. If he did, I'm sure that would squash a lot of the confusion right off the bat.
BUT....
In the 8 pages of this thread, I've seen the most condescending, entitlement-filled, arrogant posts (from a couple of guys that I won't name) that I've EVER witnessed in my nearly 8 years of being a part of this community. And I'm not going to get all "we should love each other every moment of every day", but there are certain things that are just uncalled for. To come down as hard as people have on this dude is really unwarranted. And what's pretty ironic is, as the guys that should be the most offended by this, Willard and WTNY have been relatively diplomatic about the entire situation. It's these other guys that go off on these tangent-filled manifestos essentially crucifying somebody who, yes, definitely made a mistake; but, the dude made this mistake without any ill-intentions, and from what I've read up to this point, has made efforts to try and rectify that mistake.
I'm not personally invested in these rosters in any way. I may give them a shot, and I may not. I have the OSFM V1 rosters, and I've already started my Dodgers franchise. I look forward to the OSFM Hybrid roster whenever it does get released. Personally, I'm a pretty happy camper.
It's used to be laughable to point at, and make fun of internet tough guys, who jump all over anybody that doesn't follow the "rules" just because of their own inferiority complexes. But in reading THIS particular thread, it just really made me shake my head in disgust at the fact that certain guys take the term "internet tough guys" to a whole new level.
Redsfan, you've responded more diplomatically and more graciously than I ever could have in this situation. Whether I try out your rosters or not, as somebody that spends many hours of his own free time creating slider sets, I appreciate your work and attempting to share it with the community.
Keep your head up, my man.Comment
