Question about Catchers
Do catchers have any actual effect in a game?? Like does a catcher of a higher level call a better game then one of a lower rank or are they more or less just back there catching the ball that I throw to them??

Re: Question about Catchers
Well, I'm not sure if you mean purely from a development/pitch-by-pitch basis for a pitcher, but if you mean overall, it makes a huge difference when it comes to blocking pitches, not allowing passed balls, and throwing out runners.
I'm not sure if there's an actual factor that makes a pitcher hit his spots better based on who is behind the plate though. That'd be a really cool addition to the game if that's not the case. Kind of like how in RTTS, if you've got certain equipment, it makes you better? If you put a better game-calling and pitcher-friendly catcher behind the plate, it gives your pitchers a boost. That'd be pretty cool. -
Re: Question about Catchers
I don't believe it really makes any difference who is catching. I used Jose Abreu as a catcher for a while in Diamond Dynasty and there was virtually no difference.
But they definitely should add a "Pitch Frame" rating for catchers. There are stats to back it up and I can imagine it wouldn't be too tough to give some catchers a few more calls than others.
Lots of interesting data on the whole concept.Comment
