RBU - 2015 version (download link attached)

***See my update a few posts down before downloading***

This is the updated version of the RBU utility, a roster building application that allows the construction of roster sets for all years from 1904 to present using precalculated ratings. For more information, see the instructions contained in the .rar file.

    New features:

    * All ratings have been recalculated based on the 2015 version of the game. Some ratings scaled have been changed slightly (or so it appears to me), and the new ratings will reflect this.

    * Missing players have been added. Players that may have spent a few years in a row in the minors or who were injured will now appear with the next team they played on in the majors.

    * Major overhaul to the player generator. You may now adjust the skill levels of any of the teams which the generator will put players on.

    * Added an option to globally adjust H/9 ratings up or down by an amount to be determined by the user.

Any questions, or bugs, just post here.

    Cheers!

For those interested I created a test roster from 1941 which is up in the vault now under RBU test roster - 1941. The roster is not franchise ready and I created it solely for tweaking some of the scaling contained within my ratings, but you can sim some seasons and see where things are at as of right now.

Results were actually much better than I expected. In one of the seasons I simmed Ted Williams made it to .393, with the league-wide batting average very close to the actual mark.

There are still some areas of concern I identified so I will continue to make improvements, but wanted to inform those that might use this utility that further updates will be forthcoming. I estimate it will be a few weeks before I post a newer version. In the meantime, I'm leaving the current file up.

Any thoughts, questions, or feedback you have on the test roster would be appreciated.

      Thanks

Re: RBU - 2015 version (download link attached)

When I was doing my 1986 rosters, I wrote down the leaders to actually compare with the real leaders this was just after one season.
        AVG:
        Tim Raines- .345 actual .334
        Keith Hernandez - .322 actual .310
        Steve Sax - .321 actual .332
        Von Hayes- .306 actual .305
Johnny Ray- .300 actual .301 ALL of these players were actually in the top 10 from that year

        HR:
        Mike Schmidt- 44 actual- 37
        Dale Murphy - 35 actual - 29
        Dave Parker - 34 actual - 31
        Bob Horner - 33 actual - 27
        Daryl Strawberry - 30 actual - 27

To me the hitting was pretty well right on!!! I did adjust some sliders for simulation though.

        Pitching
        Dwight Gooden - 21 wins actual 17
        Sid Fernandez - 19 wins actual 16
        Mike Scott - 18 wins actual 18
        Ron Darling - 16 wins actual 15
Fernando Valenzuela 16 wins actual 21

This also to me was pretty well spot on!!

I simmed about 5 different times and the results were similar everytime with Chris Brown and Bob Knepper randomly getting in the top 5 of there categories which was really the case. Last time I simmed the N.Y Mets defeated the California Angels. And once again spot on other than the Angels actually knocking off the Red Sox..

The only areas I seen maybe that can use some improvement was fielding and reaction. BUT it seems with your latest update this may have been fixed. Because I am currently doing the 1985 season and it looks like they have been modified am I right?
Overall to me this is a classic!!! KUDOS!!!

          Thanks for the positive feedback.

A previous version contained a couple of reference mistakes which affected fielding and reaction ratings. This has been fixed.
