    Call Names

Thought this could be a useful thread. A place for people to put good call names they have found for SECA added players and OS created players(who knows, maybe it'll be useless...but worth a shot).

I for one hate hearing "Now batting, #17" or "Martinez steps up to the plate". For a guy like Kris Bryant...easy, both names are in the data base...but for someone like Noah Syndergaard...yipes!

Just thought this could be a useful thing. So if ya have found any...feel free to post em!

    Re: Call Names

I try and get as close to the name as possible because, like you said, it's better than the generic "# 17" and do on. For example, for NYY prospect Rob Refsnyder, I have him announced as "Rob Snyder."
    NY Rangers
    NY Yankees
    SF 49ers

      Re: Call Names

I have Albert Almora set to be be called Al Mora.

      Kyle Schwarber is Kyle Schwartz.

The rest of my players are pretty much in the game now.

I'm just happy that Arismendy Alcantara made it into the game because I never had a good call name for him. lol

        Re: Call Names

Im the same way...with Refsnyder..its Snyder...not perfect but better than nothing.

I actually used Syndergaard as an example because I was hoping someone had something for him lol. I'm currently using Sutherland...which is not even close.

Most other guys on my Mets Ive gotten pretty damn close(Cicerlli for for Cicliani, Munoz for Muno, etc) But Syndrgaard and Leathersich? Nothing.

Ok, I looked at it and the best I've gotten is Sidney Garner or Sid Garner.

Try playing with names like that.

          Sidney Gaudin isnt bad.

None of them are going to be perfect though...Syndergaard is just a really unique name lol

Try Dixon Machado. The best I could get was Dixie Machado. After hearing the PA announcer say that name a couple of times, I had to change it to no name for first and last name.

I made him "The Kid" Machado...Still better than just a number. I think "Dixie" is actually really good though. It is a plausible nickname that I could see him being given by a seasoned veteran manager or coach. I am SOOOOOO sick of Madden just using a number for any players that aren't in the default roster, and then as you draft players, the new CPU Generated players names aren't even in the audio file, that now I can't stand that in ANY game I play...Sucks.
So consequently, WHENEVER possible, I try to find a "close sounding" name to go with the player.

Some names that I am using:
              3B-Don Wert (67/68 Tigers)= Don Worth
2B-Charlie Gerengher (All Time Tigers)= Charlie Granger
              SP-Mickey Lolich (67/68/All Time Tigers)= Mickey Loshe
C-Bill Freehan (early 60's/67/68/All Time Tigers)= Bill Freeman
2B-Dick McAuliffe (early 60's/67/68/All Time Tigers)= Dick McCullough
PH-Gates Brown (67/68/All Time Tigers)= James Brown (James was actually his real first name)
RF-Jim Northrup (67/68/ All Time Tigers)= Jim North
              RP-Joe Sparma (67/68 Tigers)= Joe Parme
              2B-Jerry Lumpe (67/68 Tigers)= Jerry Lund
              RP-Johnny Podres (67/68 Tigers)= Johnny Padres
SS Dick Tracewski (67/68 Tigers)= Dick NO NAME

I also use Swartz for Swihart.

                Some others:
Tyler Kolek = Tyler Clock (I'd like a better one)
                Miguel Sano = Miguel Snow

Is there any ideas for Tyler Glasnow?

Hmmm....Kolek is a tough one.... theres "Coley" is doesnt have the the K at the end, but its kinda sorta close-ish lol.

Glassnaw is another one of those "I got nothing" names..short of just "Glass" Im stumped.

For Sano you can always run with "Santos"(it has the 'S' if ya dont mind ignoring it) and there is "Sato" which isnt as close as "Santos" but theres no 'S'.

                      Re: Call Names

Finding a close sounding name sometimes is very time consuming with the only method available being scrolling through many screens to find something close.

What I think would be a good project is for a group of us to create a spreadsheet which would contain all the last names that are available in the game.

That way it would be much quicker and actually a lot more likely to find a close sounding name especially when you are looking from the last couple syllables to get close to. Example would be for Rocky Colavito it would be nice to have a completed spreadsheet of all names available in the game which would allow you to do a search on "vito" which would result in the name of Aquavito being found which actually sounds really close when announced in the game.

I think one person undertaking such a task is probably too massive and time consuming but if a handful of us would be willing to do it for a couple-few letters of the alphabet then it would not be so daunting of a task. Then we could easily combine the spreadsheets and have what I would consider a very useful tool. I certainly would sign up for doing a couple-few letters.

Any thoughts on this idea please let us know.
                      Don

Man, really? I think Dixie is just fine and always change him to that. It's like Dan and Danny.

Brian, I do the exact same thing. If I can't find a correct name for the guy, I put his first name call for his last name. I leave the first name blank and just use his last name. (Syndergaard, Ceciliani, Plawecki, Leathersich)

Also I use Cesar "Pillow" Puello, Steve "Metz" Matz.

Ive been using Launchbaugh for Leathersich. Not really close, but its somthing.

                              Ive got Paolucci for Plawecki.

                              Cicerelli for Ceclliani
