Searched the forum but couldn't find exactly what I wanted so here goes...
There are some decent roster updates with all the new player trades and signings in the MLB The Show 2015 vault that one can use to get ready for MLB The Show 2016. However, since rosters don't carry over from one year to the next but franchise's do what is the best way to use these rosters to port over the roster for MLB the Show 2016? (Via franchise)
Here's what I've done - if there's a better way I'd love to know it.
1. Downloaded the 2016 roster that I want to work with that best fits trades, signings, etc. for 2016.
2. Put that downloaded roster into a 2015 franchise.
3. Once in the franchise (now 2015 because it's The Show 2015) I go in and make sure that each player has an extra year on their contract so they will not become free agents at the end of 2015 season. For example: I gave Zach Grienke a 7 year contract (although he only has 6) so that after I sim the 2015 season he'll still be a Diamondback with 6 years left going into 2016.)
4. Sim the 2015 season. (I realize that it won't be anywhere close to a realistic 2015 season because the rosters are really 2016 rosters but I don't want to port over and still be in 2015 which happened to me last year.)
5. In the offseason between my simmed 2015 season and 2016 make any trades, signings, etc. that happened after my roster download and while I wait for 2016.
6. When 2016 is released port over my franchise.
This keeps you from having to start from scratch with default rosters which cannot have minor leaguers with no MLB experience. But it takes a lot of work setting up the contracts so the game doesn't FA or retire them. Is there a better way? Am I missing anything?
