Will this include any transactions after Opening Day such as Mets signed C Rene Rivera to a minor league contract and Phillies released RHP Ernesto Frieri today.

Think it would be nice so that minor league rosters are set as close to their opening day lineups also which begins Thursday.

The roster should have all updated transactions up to release time.

Question - when the rosters drop, if I change the contract length - NOT $$$ - does that mess with morale as well? The huge pet peeve I have with this game is while I understand they are restricted from matching the exact contracts - why on God's green earth is 85% of the organization on 1 year deals? It makes the first off season sooooo tedious and long. I was hoping to adjust the contract lengths [not amounts] to alleviate that issue. Will that be an issue?

I'll take a whirl at this. There are so many guys on one year deals because they are in the minors. And the team has total control over their contract for their first three years. Then the next three are arbitration years. An example of this is Josh Donaldson. Donaldson says he is worth X and the Jays says he is worth y. The 2 sides can come to agreement between when the number is due (December, iirc) or the day of the arbitration hearing (February). If no deal is made then it goes to an independent arbitrator who says Donaldson is worth x or y. And all arbitration deals settled by an arbitrator are 1 year deals. And most of the settlements are one year deals as well. But you do have the occasional multi year deal.

Can't speak to the morale side, but I've had some mixed results with changing the years on the contracts for guys in the minors in the past. I think I did 4 years for Single-A, 3 years for Double-A, and 2 years for Triple-A as long as they didn't have service time with staggered salaries per level they were in at the time. I think it was like 60K for Single-A, 80K for Double-A, and 100K for Triple-A.

The service time guys seemed to be set to be renewed until they reached arbitration. Sometimes it works out great, guys don't get released that obviously shouldn't be released (top prospect types), other times guys progress too fast (Greg Bird would be a great example in my franchise as he arrived way earlier than I estimated he would) and are playing for way too low of salaries.

Does anyone know if there is any work around to players expectations for contracts? Gerrit Cole says he wants 7+MM but he is only getting 1.7MM so it causes his overall to drop and affects his ratings....the problem is that once i start a franchise i can't change it and he'll be unhappy all year

Then edit the contract before you start. Problem solved. It's not accurate money, but you seem more concerned about the ratings. This would solve that problem.

Please take note of Stephen Piscotty's Arm Strength! He was voted best arm in the minors and just threw a bullet to home plate to nail Cutch!!! Should be upper 80's

Guys....we are already importing .....the updates always contain players we can export and update if we need.
We don't need to wait for the 11th or 18th update....UNLESS there is something so totally mindblowing that we need to use one of those instead.
Ridin' is crushing it as hard as he can....
I will ask him to give you guys a more specific update on the progress when he is ready.
