Roster based on OOTP ratings
I am thinking of doing a roster based off OSFM once it is released using OOTP ratings . It would be current as of the yet to be determined release date. I would include pitch edits ,updated stances etc. Just gauging interest at this point.Tags: None -
Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
This idea has been thought of before, but just forewarning you that the OOTP attributes and Show attributes aren't all in the same categories. For example, reaction in the Show has no direct counterpart in OOTP. There are a few others that don't translate from one game to the other. Secondly, the pitch repertoires in OOTP, especially for minor leaguers, aren't that great at times and are downright bad at other times. You'd probably want to supplement with other info. In addition, there aren't movement and control ratings for each pitch type in OOTP, just a single "fastball" rating. Or it was this way in OOTP16.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan Wolverines -

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
I think the pitch edits would be helpful, but there are a ton of minor league pitchers (most of them) than don't have any Pitchf/x data. So you'd need to get that info in some other fashion.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
I hear you but I would never utilize someone else's hard work and pass it off as my own. Not that type of dude. Just trying to put something different out their than Willards Hybrid and OSFM. I figure the more choices for the community is a plus. I will have to start gathering data on Minor League pitchers and other data for ratings that do not correlate from OOTP. I plan on purchasing OOTP tonight and getting started.Comment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
I would love it if you could do the top foreign players (KBO, NPB, and Cuban)based on OOTP ratings. I've done it with a couple guys the last 2 years, but it is difficult to translate everything over.Comment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
Plus I found a ootp ratings for Japanese and Taiwan ratings but they are different system than the show. I think the scale only went up to 80 and the ratings were off when I changed them. Can you choose a 0-100 rating scale on ootp so it's similar to the show?Comment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
Yes, OOTP allows you to select a 1-100 scale versus their default of 80 scale.Comment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
I purchased OOTP 2 years ago and sent ratings to a couple of the guys that created foreign players for The Show and it seemed to work well with the 1-100 scale. The CAPs this year for the top guys seem really low to me. Despaigne for instance was on the level of Cespedes and Jose Abreu when they all played together. Shohei Otani is laughably underrated as well. He compares to Darvish and Tanaka on the mound and is hitting .342, with 8 HR in 73 ABs this year. (1.164 OPS)Comment

Re: Roster based on OOTP ratings
I've completed a roster set based on OOTP with great results. MOST of the applicable ratings are there as are pitches and movement. I probably wouldn't mix players from different eras, 20's & 60's. A historical season would work better I believe since all the historical players are being rated on the same scale. Using baseball reference you should be able to create an accurate roster. Just adjust the POWER & CONTACT sliders until tour results are what you expect.Comment
