Player progression

Do players progress if they are on the free agent pool? I'm more concerned with online franchises but if anyone has insight on how progression and free agency tie together in either online or offline franchise, that'd be great.

As a test I put Manny Machado on the FA list & made sure no one signed him during the season. He DID regress during the season, only a little, but still.

So is one to expect a player to regress when put on the free agent pool? Or do you think the fact that he regressed vs improving was just random?

I highly doubt this is random, I have yet to come across even one player who progressed on the FA list, All real SCEA players regress, fake minor leaguers hold the same neither progressing or regressing. Looks like the only attribute that doesn't regress for real players is stealing & steal agg.Strangely, for pitchers, velocity & break doesn't regress. Neither does their running speed, but position players running speed does regress.
