TheGame & BDaniels Ultimate Ratings Roster

First of all, I can't even begin to write anything about this roster without thanking the OSFM team. Their work year after year after year is second to none.

This roster is a full re-rate of the OSFM Mid Season Update using my ratings calculator you can find here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...alculator.html

All players on an active roster have been re-rated using my calculator. You can thank BDaniels20 for his tireless work in accomplishing this. I couldn't have done it without him, and we'll likely be doing the same thing next year.

Version 1 of the roster has been released. All trades have been made but there are still prospects on teams that have either been released or traded that need to be fixed. I'd like to go through and correct rosters, lineups, and rotations for MLB teams and put the correct players in AAA & AA.

Version 2 has no projected release date, but I plan on doing equipment updates, updating the ratings of some top free agents, fixing some contracts, and other minor rating changes. Gary Sanchez is one guy that needs to be tweaked (and I hate the Yankees but that dude is raking).

Most of all, I'd love to hear your feedback. We all are fans of different teams, so I'd love to hear what each of you think about how your team was rated. Any suggestions you have are welcome.

As someone who has done ratings for the Hybrid roster etc for 3 years now via a continually-developing calculator of my own, I am always interested in new entrants to the re-rating party.

One thing that would be interesting to know is how does your roster sim? Did you test that aspect or is it not a concern? Did you need to make any adjustments when faced with simulation stats or do you feel your raw, calculated numbers for each attribute worked out the way you wanted?

Sim stats was exactly what I was trying to fix with this. That was honestly my biggest concern. I found in my sims basically every big name player had numbers right in line with typical projections for that player. In baseball, there are always anomalies, and it's nearly impossible to get around this.

Part of what version 2 will attempt to correct is some of these anomalies. While I want to stick as close as possible to the pure statistical calculations, I also want it to sim a good game of baseball.

I'll put it like this. I did small batches of sims as I was creating the ratings by putting in the ratings for the Astros, Cubs, Red Sox, Orioles, and Giants. The numbers were great. But now with the whole file done, they're actually better than I expected.

This is not to toot my own horn. I've just been working on this calculator for the last 4 years. I've tweaked it every baseball season since then, and this is by far the happiest I've been with it. This is the first year I've actually gotten to see the finished product as BDaniels kicked *** in putting this together. I couldn't be happier and can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and suggestions.

I'll post an update once the file is officially released.
Very interesting. I will definitely check these out. Is updated with transactions? Because due to personal preference I prefer opening day roster sets so I would want to undo all transactions. Also, are you guys including pitch edits? I know they are a lot of work to import, but that would be awesome.

Also as a question about simming, did young prospects make impact eventually. Bc on the Hybrid and OSFM rosters, the only way to win a World Series while not playing every game (so in order to please the sim engine) you need to use players in the MLB rather than prospects. So do prospects make impacts?

            These are updated with transactions.

All pitch edits are included. Used WTNY's amazing work. It's included in my calc and part of the roster set.

Not sure what you mean but if you'd like to see how prospects are rated, all you need to do is download my calc. Prospects are rated on a weighted scale with most AAA level players rated highest, then AA, and then everyone else. This isn't always the case though. If someone rakes in AA and is a top prospect, there's a good chance he'll find his overall in the upper 60s to low 70s. This kind of player is capable of making an impact.

I have made the decision to upload the roster. You can find it under the username thaGREATwall.

I planned on updating all the rosters to make them accurate with correct players on correct teams, but it has turned into an undertaking that is going to take longer than anticipated. With all the trades, released players, waiver claims, etc. there are a lot of players on the wrong team. MLB the Show does so many things right with rosters but one thing they really lack on is being able to release players to free agency without signing someone else.

I'll put it like this, I have even more respect for the OSFM team and the time it takes them to get all these players on the right teams.

More than anything else, I'd like this to be a preview for next year. Let me know what you think of the ratings, any suggestions you have, run some sims, and if you're ok with some of the rosters having some minor league players off, then it'll be great for franchise as well.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Is there a suggested slider set to use as a base or should they likely play well with any reasonable set?

I've used base sliders with a few adjustments to my own liking, but they should work well with any set of sliders.

                        Hope you like them!

Where can we download the updated calculator? The link to the calculator on the first page has different ratings than the players on the roster.
