That's kinda annoying, almost wish the devs would make a "free agents" section for these types of players like the legends tab so that they weren't removed. But my guess is that they cannot do this because of the system the PS4 runs, not advanced enough yet or too small

Yes, he did along with many others, but as CWS said sometimes SCEA removes these players when the go overseas. For all I know some of these guys may still be in 17, but we don't know for certain so that's why they are on the list. It's speculative for sure, but this helps people with year to year saves and those of us that work on rosters as well.

Neal Cotts signed with the Nationals. He didn't appear in any games in 2016.

Is Dan Uggla in the same boat as Cliff Lee? Not retired but won't be in '17?

He may be in as Cliff Lee was in this year's version after not playing the previous year.

Cliff Lee was only in because he spent the entire 2015 season on the DL with the Phillies. Neither Cliff Lee or Dan Uggla will be in 17. Both were free agents that didn't play at all last season.

Yeah you got a point. Yeah in that case, I'll have to agree they both won't be in.

I believe RP Steve Delabar pitched for the REDS in 2016.

He did, but then went to Japan in the middle of the season (he was released by the Reds on June 24th, then signed with a team in Japan June 25th). Same with Mike Broadway. both are 50/50.

EXAMPLE of who this happened to before was Joey Butler. He played in 6 games for the Cardinals in 2014, then left for Japan the rest of the season. Came back that off season and signed with the Rays and had to be created in MLB 15 cause he was removed.

If you remember for some reason Matt Joyce wasn't in the game last year till the update (he ended up being a generic player but had a portrait) was really strange that one. I found a few that come up from 15 to 16 transfer with their pic portrait in franchise mode but wouldn't come up in the roster file. so looks like quite a few are hidden possibly.

Man, I hope we can get a feature like NBA 2K where you can assign players to teams instead of swaping them.

Or I wish they would set the roster minimum as 90 and the max as 100 (OSFM rosters could include up to 5 more prospects and have some leeway for additional free agents). In one of the old baseball games (MVP maybe?) you can place a free agent onto a team without subtracting someone as long as you didn't go over the maximum amount of players on a team.

                                That was 2K.
