How will they handle Prince Fielder? his neck injury will never allow him to play again but technically he didn't retire so he could still collect a check, He's still on the Rangers 40 man roster and will be put on 60 day dl as soon as spring training starts. Do you think they'll leave him in the game or remove him?

Not sure. If he is still technically part of the MLBPA then they'll keep him in. Otherwise probably not.

Ya I wonder how the show will use him. One example is Chris Pronger was still on a team he's under contract with in NHL17 when he haven't played in several years. Haven't checked for Marc Savard.. same situation.

I think he will be removed. If not, then we can just copy over him in OSFM.

"If there is any good news in this scenario, it’s that Fielder will be landing on one hell of a cushion. Thanks to the dogged work of Marvin Miller, Donald Fehr, Michael Weiner, and the strength of the MLB Players Association, MLB contracts are guaranteed. All Major League players owe them a debt of gratitude. So even though he will not be able to play for the next four years, Fielder will not officially retire. He will presumably remain on the 60 day DL for the next four years. And he will still collect all of the $96 million owed to him".

Rangers really lucked out in all of this not having to pay the entire thing.

Jonathan Diaz did not appear in the MLB last season, he signed with a Toronto. He has been in the game before.

MLBTR did post that Fielder takes up a 40-man roster spot all off-season, but as soon as soon as players are eligible to go on the dl, that's when he goes on. If he retires (don't really know why he would), Fielder would forfeit the money owed to him and if the Rangers release him, they pay him the entire remainder of his deal (they aren't paying whole thing for him now).

I still hope he gets removed but not a big deal if he isn't. OSFM can remove him.

Josh Hamilton is another guy who missed the whole year due to injuries. Played in one rehab game I believe.
