Watch out for this ratings glitch when importing players from Franchise

When you continue a Franchise from 16 to 17 some players with high ratings (Clemens in this example) will automatically start a few points lower overall due to morale.

In Clemens case it was due to his low contract. I didn't think it would stick so I exported him anyway and sure enough - Him, Canseco, Vaughn, etc... all were now multiple points lower overall.

I went back to 16 to confirm with my base roster and it was official. Either we have to give these guys bigger contracts to boost morale when we transfer or use them with lowered ratings.

It sucks because I already did the entire 96 Orioles (over 90 minutes of edits) without knowing this but figured I better warn everyone else as well.

Also, does anyone know what stats the carried over morale changes? It dropped Clemens from a 90 to 88.

Re: Watch out for this ratings glitch when importing players from Franchise

Editing contracts for players now once they're imported, then going to start a franchise with them edited and paid higher to see if that changes. Some guys lose 5 or more points....

Looks like twice the work now. Smh.

Edit: So I just edited contracts with Boston and import that saved file into Franchise and now Clemens has a 93 overall instead of 88.

He is supposed to have a 90. His rating for that season is 90 but I don't know what stats are changing because of his contract.

Stupid. There needs to be an option to turn this off for people who make and imported classic rosters and like the ratings these players were given.

Edit 2: After all edits are made I'm going to have to go back to 16, screenshot player ratings for each creation, and then cycle between there and 17 to find what has changed. It seems to be the only way to keep the exact ratings I want.

Take this thread for what it's worth if you're doing something similar to me.

      I like the concept.

Randy Johnson mailed it in as a Mariner in '98 beacuse of his contract.

.. the execution is another issue though. As it was said, this is a pain for roster makers. Let a season play out before morale becomes a problem.

I agree. The concept is fine, it's a nice touch. However, starting this all on day 1 of spring training makes it hell for the guys who want the countless hours they out into ratings to count.

In MLB 16, try sending them down to the minors and remove them from the 40-Man. If they were create or edited you should be ok when you start a franchise. If you have service time on them though, get ready for a headache as I can't figure out how to beat the overall/morale issue.

Nice. I'll give it a shot man, but otherwise it sounds like we're in the same boat. Would even help too if we could find out which attributes are dropping.
