Nice! That's tight man, I'm glad you made it. Link me to the YouTube if you want later.

Just International. If any other free agent played a single game in the minors that year or was already in the set (basically played pro ball period) they would most likely be in. Even injured players like Strawberry and Appier are in the years when they were injured and did just a little minors ball, but their durability is way low and their ratings took a hit. Basically all that should be left to include is a few foreign free agents.

I don't want too many though because then your Season is going to end up with teams signing guys like Ichiro 4 years before he was ever in the MLB and oversaturating lineups with talent not necessarily relevant to that specific era.

I'm not doing 90 dawg, just 50+ depending on affiliate depth. 50 is so you can have fully functional AAA teams for exhibition play 👍

Okay, there's probably a couple dozen guys that were internationally relevant in the late 90s. Give me a few days and I'll have something for you.

Re: The Official 1996, 1997, and 1998 Roster Project

What's going on boys, checking in after a long overdue update.

I'll keep this short for my standards

First things first. I hit a delay about a week ago and I'm out of town on business for another few weeks. I did bring my PS4 with but it has been difficult to make progress. But difficult doesn't mean impossible so nothing has changed. Here's the good news.

I am at about 45% done, but when I hit around 60% or so I should be able to fly. I don't have a timeline, so I don't know when.

Also, one reason this is taking so much longer is because I found a way to make the rosters accurately show Rookies, Vets, and All Stars. Gone are the days of a 40 year old rookie Paul Molitor or All Star badged player who had 250 career games. All Rookies and All Stars will be accurately represented while players with service time are just blank.

This is a game changer in my opinion. It looks so clean, and is very informative when browsing lineups/using franchise.

This also goes with the AAA teams. Vets in the minors won't be rookies and actual rookies will be rookies. I even thought of mimicking the Top 50 prospect icons with the players who were, but it all changes over in Franchise anyway with the higher rated rookies and wouldn't be worth all the extra time.

I have also found out to get the accurate All Star Teams but it is a pain in the nuts and will only be done after this set drops.

One negative is some of the players I ported over (all ages/weights/positions reflect appropriate year) that are pitchers may not have the accurate pitches and speeds. Some may, but I don't have my book to check. Shouldn't be a big issue, but want to be transparent here.

I want to do this right, and this is the only way to put my money where my mouth is, even if it is taking a long time.

I can't upload pics now but I will when I get back to my place sometime.

Otherwise you can expect the full 50 man rosters and playable AAA teams with proper badges in the roster menus. I can't stress how different this makes it to me.

Not trying to be a hype mongerer or cocky, but I promise you guys these are worth the wait.

          Will still post updates.

Hope the other sets are holding you over well.

What a pro. I can't even fathom this roster. All things considering, you are actually making very fast progress on this so no need to rush. I actually enjoy having a roster to use during the off season.

Awesome, I think you're going to like these my friend.

So here we go on the update.

Since I last posted anything substantial on here I've gotten super busy. Increased work load, started a business, damaged my phone which held a lot of the data for this project, got bad pneumonia for a bit, and frankly boys - Just hit a wall. I could not bring myself to do more work for about a month on here and just needed to recharge.

However, I'm back on the war path!

Here's where I sit and what I'm doing:

Have half of Tampa left and then Arizona.

After that I have 8 teams left to reconfigure the real Rookie, All Star, and vet designations.

Then I need to recreate any players I ported in the minors so they have the green R symbol.

After that it's just making sure deliveries and stances are as accurate as they can be.

After that I need to add about 5-9 players for about 20 teams so every player in the set is real and not a fake. At least for 98. There may be a very small few fakes for 97 and 96 but I doubt anyone will notice.

It's a long road yet but I now am solely focused on 98 and want it done ASAP.

With Christmas coming up and family coming to visit it is looking like a December/January drop at best but you never know.

Just looking at the rosters now is game changing to me. I have used these since 14 and this is such a fun and refreshing update.

Can't wait to share it with you all. If you have enjoyed the past sets I can promise these will not disappoint.

                      Will stay in touch

I'll throw you guys a little gift so to speak if you're interested.

Below are the best rated minor league players for each team.

Higher rated players are usually future stars who were close to coming up or even played a bit in 98. Guys like Roy Halladay played in the MLB in 1998 and did great (was like 2-0 and had a nice ERA if I remember right) which earned him the top rated minors player in the set. Continuing to do well in 1999 also contributed to his (and others) rating factors. Other high rated players are veterans.

                            So here we go:

Those names all bring back some memories, and they all look just right (overall wise). Can't really critique without seeing the full ratings but the only one I'm surprise by is Cory Bailey higher than Wolf, Gagne, etc
Haha, I think what you're seeing is the rookie/vet ratings clash my man.

Basically the logic is this - Bailey, a reliever, had at that point already played in the majors and did very well in 1996. He played in 97 and 98, but mostly in the minors and still did very well.

Wolf and Gagne at this point had not ever stepped on an MLB field and I believe Gagne was still a little bit out from that.

Also, Wolf and Gagne were starters as opposed to relievers and had higher potentials. Bailey has a D so will likely stay the same or regress throughout a season while guys like Wolf (high B) or Gagne (A) will only improve.

And Bailey did go on to have two pretty solid MLB seasons in the early 00's so I can't beat him up too much.

I'll probably make him a 73 or something but give him C potential.

It's trickier to try and account for future production with some of these dudes, dude.
