Roster Gurus would like your help.

First off let me say thank you all for your hard work and dedication that you guys placed into this game and the rosters that you all make year in and year out. I have been playing them all for the Show since the early 2000….My favorite will always be Knights OFSM rosters and glad to see they are being took over by Ridin….Anyway…
I am a 20 year military vet that has finally retired from the military and Since I love playing the show so much I figure I would do what I love the most and create full Historic rosters from the 70s to 90s, I know that a lot of work and that but I need a hobby to keep my self busy or my wife will kill me in the next month and I know none of us want that…
So, I would like from you guys is how do you prepare a roster I know the basic on creating a person or editing the person to use as such but how do you guys get such accurate or close to accurate stats and skills..I am looking for some calculator or formula to follow so I can just plug and go… If you guys can help me out with that it would be great….
I am not here looking to steal someone else’s work, I am not into that and if you don’t believe me just message me and I will give you my facebook info and such to prove I am not that type of person. I digress, anyhelp from you guys would help and let me know if there is anything I could do for you in return. Thank you all….

    First Thanks for Your Service,

Look into JTommy67's Roster Builder Utility (RBU) ......... it is what several of us use and I think it is as good as it gets especially for historical rosters ......

Then use Out of The Park (OTTP) baseball for some of the pitching details not available in JTommy67's RBU ..........

I think if you search this forum I once created a thread that detailed how I and several other of us use these tools step by step ...........

If you decide to follow suit with those that have used these specific tools then just let me know and I will be more than happy to discuss the process in detail with you over the phone which is better than via email/PM's ..........

Good Luck & Enjoy both your retirement from the Military and The Show !

    Take Care,
    Don (USMC '68-'74)

        Tony,

PM me your email address and I will authorize you to my Dropbox which has each season already prepared from 1950-1989 plus even a few 1990 seasons as well for JTommy67's RBU V1.

This will save you a lot of time as you won't have to create each individual one. They are each already built into a separate spreadsheet for each.

My Dropbox is [email protected] and it might allow you in without me authorizing your email address. They are in a directory named RBU and a file named RBU V1 Seasons.rar

You might also want to download the file named PitchersControlBreakGeneratedRatingswOOTP.xlsx which is a very simple calculator I created to convert the OOTP pitchers ratings into Break & Control ratings to be used in MLB The Show. I can explain this simple process later.

Thanks a lot guys for your help on this....

Now how do you guys do historic pitchers, I figured out the batters and the program last night and was great...stayed up way to late messing with it....

So is there calculations with out using OOTP, cause I do not have that game...

Re: Roster Gurus would like your help.

Historic Pitchers ratings we use OOTP exclusively. I am sure there are other methods available but we have all settled on using OOTP since it keeps it from being subjective. Plus OOTP does a very good job with their historic Pitchers for ratings including Pitch repertoire and ratings on each individual pitch along with velocity of fastball which all other pitch types can be based off of relatively to each's pitch types quality rating. Then for Control & Movement we input OOTP's ratings into the simple calculation I created to generate relative rating for MLB The Show which work fine.

For the general Pitchers ratings such as Stamina, Hits, Home Runs, Walks & Strikeouts allowed then those come from JTommy67's RBU.

I use OOTP 14 and it is basically the same as the newer more recent versions regarding historic pitchers ratings. You should be able to pick up an older version of OOTP fairly inexpensively on Amazon/eBay etc and it will work just fine.
