Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
I like the foreign-born players angle. The name database is a bit shallow in that area, but I'm sure it could be done.
More young superstars....eh....careful what one wishes for. The thing I like about the current roster is that the potential ratings are much more in-line with SDS' core roster. Too many rosters have inflated potentials and that can wreck havoc with the AI in terms of managing salaries and executing trades. People don't always realize that a B or C potential player can be an absolute stud with the right ratings build.
To each his own though. Regardless Bacon, you'll always have my support in your roster endeavors!Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

As for productive players, even D potential guys are useful IMO and my biggest issue with most rosters is potential ratings so I'm pretty conservative in terms of increasing potentials.
I'll need to find some middle ground here for the best result.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Bacon, do you feel players with 60 and below fielding and reaction ratings behave stupidly, or that its more realistic this year? Hearing alot of different things on this.Comment

I don't think I've played enough games to have noticed this quite yet but I'll keep an eye open for anything odd.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Hey Bacon, I'm almost thru April and am having a blast with this 2019 set.
I'm curious about 2020 free agents. Did you develop any thought into who specifically would be a free agent in 2020?
Thanks dude!

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
This is great Bacon! Love the companion spreadsheet as well. Top notch stuff. Kind of curious who are some of your favorite players as well as everyone elses? Just getting started exploring it myself.Comment

Clinton Lake the Red Sox CF is the complete package! Switch hitter, good contact and vision, power on both sides, excellent fielder and speedy.Comment

As for your question, I appreciate this question because there isn't an obvious answer. I tried to put in a lot of first year-expiring free agent deals so the second years of franchise would be very different every time you play and so the first offseason contains a lot of changing of teams for a lot of players. Then, top prospects were (mostly) placed onto teams at positions where a player would be leaving in free agency so there's a choice for who you'd like to keep (a top prospect or a pending free agent) at a lot of positions on a number of teams throughout the league. I didn't/still don't have a set number I was trying to get to at a minimum however.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
I've played through Angels and Rays franchises so my favorite players come from those teams. Big fan of Donnie Roland, Tim Brennan and Bronson Ware on the Halos and then thoroughly enjoyed my time with Tampa using Ed Cole and Lefty Wright among others. Other than those players, I also enjoy using players who were originally RTTS creations for me like Speedy McGee and P.J. Kid.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
I did a fantasy draft with the Phillies and drafted Clinton Lake on my team. I cant seem to get him going, 25 games in and he is only batting .210 with 2 HRs. His fielding has been solid. He is an older player with alot of $$ on his contract, so I am hoping he picks things up.PSN: trex187

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Bacon, you created a MONSTER! I just had the pleasure of being shutdown by TYLER ELLIOT! I somehow managed to get McKnight and Lake on base even though I think my eyes were closed when I swung. I had thoughts of erasing his 2 run lead and even winning the game. He just gritted his teeth and struck out the next 3 with 2 of them caught looking. Great stuff! I’m even enjoying losing with this roster.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Bacon, this may be a odd request, but if you have the time could you do a quick 25 man fantasy draft, trying to build the best, most complete team you could and post the results? I'm going to do a 30 team control fantasy draft with some of your fictional guys and some legends mixed into a custom roster and I want to have one of the teams be fully composed of your players. I'm interested to see who you would select that would complement each other well and contend for a few years.Comment
