Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Hey there, I have a question about your roster. Is there a specific method or ratings system you use when creating your roster? I really loved playing with your roster and am looking at doing my own. More specifically; How are you updating service time and such? I have a decent method for attributes I've come up with to keep them randomized and not overpower every single player. I'd love to hear back with your base method for service time and attribute building.Comment

Bacon how do the quirks work? I Noticed some add/disappear with rating tweaks, others you can't make appear, or get to disappear.Comment

Service time has been manipulated using the import/export feature in franchise mode and again, you don't have time for everything to be perfect so I just tried to get players close to how I wanted them until exporting out and then back into my master file. Then, rinse and repeat.
Good luck and let me know if you need more help.Last edited by bacon96; 02-14-2020, 02:11 PM.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
One kind is randomly assigned to players and sticks no matter what but I can't assign myself (ex: "first pitch hitter" or "road warrior"). Where the others are based off attributes to give you a rough scouting report on a player. Those are easy to edit (ex: "platoon" or "soft hands").
Personally, I've been saying for years that we need to be able to edit/assign quirks ourselves and that would really open up another level of this roster.

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
So I'll be posting my team ideas for all 30. I'm not sure if you'll be able to share whole teams but you all will know what my franchises will look like very soon. Cannot wait to actually create teams, uniforms and such but I may need some help with logos.

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Not too much of a method in terms of attributes. I just threw players in as I felt and then formed the league after the first few hundred were in...takes lots of time. A lot of the really good players in the league now weren't in the first season I created the project.

I did a fantasy draft with your roster and loved not knowing the guys I was drafting with hopes they'd turn into great players.
Fictional definitely pulled me back into franchise and just playing through it gave me the willpower to create my own roster and see what I can do myself. So thanks for the inspiration! If I need any help or have any questions I'll let you know for sure.Comment

I DO really like the uniform editor - it's pretty solid overall and you can put together some very nice looking uniforms together quickly.
(As an aside....this is where your use of the team color slots for player equipment in your roster is going to pay off big time).
One piece of advice, the database of team names and locations that are actually spoken by the announcers is fairly limited (at least on MLB 19). MLB 20 may expand upon it, but I would temper expectations there too....you might want to play around with the team editor a bit in DD for 19 to get a feel for it.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Awesome. I have my spreadsheet I'm using similar to yours that you have posted and have been just grinding it out, taking a bit of time everyday to add at least a couple guys to the roster. I'm hoping I can work out service times but not going to make or break it, if everybody starts as a Rookie in a franchise for me not the end of the world. I have random names and random numbers on attributes set for the AL and hope to get started on the NL soon. With ages all randomized I think I'll be happy with the final result even if I can't get service times quite where I want them.

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
Dude, I totally suck at the logo creation piece; but there is good news...there are some pretty amazing logos in the vault. You can also literally combine multiple logos (or elements of different logos) into one. Like I took a pre-made WVU logo and combined it with another logo for a diamond for the DD team I muck around with offline. It looks pretty slick (IMO) and it took minutes to put together.

Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster
I have some experience using it in DD and I cannot create decent logos myself (or at least, I don't wanna pour the time into doing it) and I agree. It is limiting as is but should be expanded at least a little bit before launch. I'm still going to try to be as creative as I can and come up with 30 new identities as soon as I can and I will be utilizing the vault as much as I can to develop those teams.
I always go back to the days of MLB Power Pros on the Wii with expansion mode. I hope they follow that style of naming and have an option to just say the location name of the team. It’d make life easier hahahaha
