    Re: Bacon's Fictional Roster

Yeah....this is all so very true. I'm still learning the quirks of the players on my team. In my Braves chise, I was about to try to trade-off my RF Lee due to the contract and his utter lack of durability (necessitating a rest day every 3rd day). Then, realized he's a 27 or 28 yr old rookie...then the storyline made sense...he's an import from the KBO. It changed my tune on him just because it's a fun story.

There are guys with big pop that are extreme push hitters (Shaw from Miami is one); there are low pop guys that are pull hitters. You have to not only understand the ratings, but how to use them. You have to look at the hot/cold zones, the player quirks, etc. Factor-in morale, contract statuses, and so on and there is a lot to digest.

When I first started to try to pick a team, I was looking very surface level (like I might for a "real life" roster). I spun my wheels trying to figure it out. Once I dug a bit deeper at player ages, contracts and so on, I began to get a little better feel and the Braves stood out to me as a fascinating squad (older team, crap farm, but with potential).

You begin to appreciate the brilliance of the franchise mode when you use a roster like this...
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Names in bold are new players for the version so it's the first roster you'd find them on.

Sent from a galaxy far far away.

Hey! I was waiting for somebody to find this and figure it out. Yeah, he's supposed to be a younger, similar look alike.

Everyone here wants to give bacon props......and I want to do the opposite. This has been an absolutely horrible experience for me. I downloaded the roster.....I made generic teams....every team is playing in a minor park to keep revenue fair. Did a fantasy draft and boom.....

You see I am an OLLLLLLD show user....I like ridins rosters....like the real feel of the players in the game.....wife and kids would go to bed at 10 and I would get a game in a night.....all was right in the world.....

Now????? Now I am up till 2am playing......I think to myself just one more game and ends up being 3......I get to the 9th and give up a tying jack and it ends up going 16 innings....I know I can save it and come back to it but my body wont let me......it has to see this through now....I am now invested in Gavyn Cook and Homer Webster.....I now cant get a good nights sleep....So I say screw you Bacon....and all you have done to me

WOW do I love this roster! I play it, I watch it, instead of watching the Giants v. Dodgers on TV, I'm watching them on TV with Bacon's roster. It's also less stressful than trying to replciate what's going on in MLB.

Quick question, is there any way to edit Vince Cartwright so that he is not a switch thrower? It appears it's locked?

Hahaha! Thanks buddy. I'm really glad I'm not the only one who loses sleep because of this. I can't say how many nights I decided to be done by 11 and then I look up at it's 2am.

Can't tell you how many times this year when I've wanted to watch baseball where I just picked two random teams and watched them play on here too!

You can't change it. It's locked with the CAP when he was created.

CPU Roster Control export workaround from MLB18 and earlier.

                        1) Start a franchise with CPU Roster Control on
                        2) Simulate "time" in the franchise
                        3) Export player from franchise, import back on to roster
                        4) Repeat as much as necessary

Unfortunately, it's been "fixed" so instead time counts forward on MLB19 & MLB20 instead of backwards like the stats you can find on my roster.

How does a guy like Seth Thompson on LAD work? He doesn't have a secondary position listed, but is clearly a platoon CIF/COF of some sort who can also throw a bit of heat in relief.

Do you just guess which position is best and see how it goes, or do the ratings play the same if I were to put him in RF/LF or maybe 3B from time to time?

He does actually have a secondary position listed: OF.

But yeah, just throw him out there and see how he does. Given that he has secondary positions listed, he has an advantage over other two way players of his kind.

OK, cool, thanks! I looked on his player card using triangle but I must have been looking in the wrong place. I was kind of thinking of him as a late-inning replacement for Boomer Moore, and it sounds like I was on the right track.

Watching Boomer try to field anything but a high pop up is painful but boy can he mash.
