That being said, I still much prefer using fictional players and I know a fictional roster will likely pop up eventually (I know Caufield is working on one), but I'm super into the game now and looking to scratch my itch for an entirely custom fictional world.


I'm wondering, for all those who know the BFR style rosters well, what will I be missing going forward into a game world with creating my own fictional roster by simming ahead, that would be a shortcoming as compared to using BFR? I'm assuming ratings and balance were much better in BFR, and I do recall the players were very uniquely rated with a lot of interesting splits and very unique players - likely don't see as much of that with game generated CAPs.

That's the cool thing about doing it the way I'm currently planning to, also, is that the history will all be there in terms of player stats too, and it will be history that was actually simmed/played by me, semi passively, but still, it's nice to have that history built.

I was under the impression your roster, since you were simming 100 years then exporting, would have duplicate years in stats... like, if the player is starting in 2023, the player who had previously played in 2023 to say 2030, before being exported, would have all those stats listed for those years, then generate new stats for 2023 in the current season? Or have I misunderstood how it's going to work?

Rip that's a great idea. The only thing I see with that is like you said it won't be as good as bacon's.

True, but at least for me it's still better than playing with the current day MLB/real life rosters. I don't know why, but I just can't get immersed in playing a real life league. I've always been that way in OOTP too, as I always play fictional.

I stopped simming after the 2122 season.
so if I exported a player who had stats for four years, it would look like:
2122 - stats
2121 - stats
2120 - stats
2119 - stats

then when he starts accumulating stat in 2023 it will read:
2023 - stats
2122 - stats (which for me represent 2022)
2121 - stats (represent 2021)
2120 - stats (2020)
2119 - stats (2019)

anyone who played 2023 to 2030 will have long since been retired in my 100 year simmed franchise (and most likely dead lol, in the year 2122) and won't be around for me to import

I decided to stop buying new versions of The Show and just play my roster on MLB20.

I added on about 120 players and edited about 100 more.

IMO, if you are into every pitch, every inning single season play, then any single season historical roster listed in Armor's thread is the way to go.

If you are into every pitch, every inning multi-year franchise play, Bacon's Fictional roster is the way to go....it becomes your own baseball universe and you will likely find it wonderful as well.

For those who rebrand team names for franchise using bacon's roster what are some team names on your franchise?

Some of mine I made are:

Virginia admirals
San Antonio scorpions
Brooklyn bombers
Albuquerque outlaws
Phoenix vipers
Little Rock reapers
Tacoma Titans
Oklahoma city rebels
Reno rattlers

Are just some of mine.

As you can see I only make team names that are in the team names database in the game.

I would find it useful also, but that's bc I nerd out to this. Making the 180 pivot back to 20 from 23... going with a IRL and a BFR franchise... Bacon Marlins are looking like my weapon of choice... or fantasy Dodgers and no IRL franchise... decisions, decisions.
