These rosters have given me so much joy. Im about 80 games into a fantasy drafted season.

One thing though...has anyone simmed more than a season ahead and noticed that every year several 90+ players go unsigned all season? I ran some test sims and every year this is the case. They eventually get signed the following season but then a new crop of 2-3 90+ players remains unsigned.

Im pretty sure its got something to do with budgets as teams are unable to sign these top flight guys due to financial constraints. Ive tried making offers to them and I get the msg you cannot make this offer message. Im playing 30 team control so I’ve tried signing from multiple teams.

I noticed that the overall budgets are way lower for most teams with the bacon roster than they are with the default scea.

Does anyone have any experience with budgets and how I could manipulate them during season 1 of the bacon experience so that this isnt a problem in future years?

I noticed this a while back and am working on overalls and such so players don't go unsigned.

I'm also reworking the overall salaries/budgets for every team in hopes of making it more playable a few years down the road.

I'll keep y'all updated on my experiences in franchise years 2+

Because of how attached Ive become to these little digital players in Bacons roster, I decided to take on the laborious task of going through every single player in the league and making edits, since there is no way to do this globally.

After running multiple test franchises where Id lower the 90+ soon to be free agents on the last day of season, by 8 overall points, I found that it was providing a work around and teams would have both cap room to sign the top tier guys as well as room to trade the following season.

However rather than simply lower guys above 90 in their final year I decided to lower everyone in the league, which better suits my preference anyway.

Im lowering everyones potential -7

Im lowering all position players and starters by -8 overall.

Im lowering relievers by -2

Im lowering closers by -5

Everyone. All levels.

So far Ive completed 6 teams since Monday working on it in the evenings for an hour or so.

Im not touching contracts as Im modifying my current franchise which is yr 1 about 70 games in. But I figure things will work themselves out organically as budgets will rise over time, and the league will grow into them as players advance

Bacon, the players in this roster are fantastic. I absolutely love them and believe that this huge investment in edit time will ultimately be worth it.

At this point, I'm not planning on uploading anything until after 18 comes out. I've made drastic changes in terms of payroll, adding new players to make it a full 40 man roster instead of just the 25 and I'm still playing around with the unsigned players issue.

However, I've set myself up to be in a good position for a quick turnaround once 18 drops. I'd say there's a very good chance my first version on 18 will be uploaded within 2 weeks of launch.

Here's some news regarding the roster I will share at this time:

There will be two versions of the roster out again this season.
One roster won't have any of the movie characters that were in the original roster but will likely be filled with a player who is roughly as good overall. While the other roster will be packed with as many baseball movie/tv references that we can fit into it. Both Armour and Sword and Deucemonkey23 have been working on CAPs to increase the amount I had in the original roster.

There will be a companion Google spreadsheet for anyone interested however that is still very much a WIP.

Both rosters will include edits from the original to give players a more lifelike feel to roster management and their physical appearance. I've expanded the payrolls on every team, expanded from a 25-man roster to a full 40-man roster on every team, including 10 rule five draft picks, and given extensions to 2-5 players per team to give some consistency there throughout franchise/RTTS. Some of these contracts are bargains in my opinion and some are overpays; something I feel will make it more realistic as well. I also think that I have fixed the free agents remaining unsigned after the season but I'll be testing that again once 18 drops. Potentials have been touched up to give a better feel but I'm still not entirely sure how potential works. Another quick note is that this roster is frozen in time so players will not progress from year to year if I continue it into MLBTS19 and beyond.

Like Bacon said......we will be making even more baseball movie caps.

I am compiling a list of other baseball movie players to add. Bacon really made a fantastic fictional roster here and it does have a retro feel too.

I look forward to helping making it even better and can’t wait to start a fresh Indians “Major League” Redux franchise on 18!!!

In terms of movie players. If there a re multiple players from one team in a movie, but not enough to fill an entire team...do you place them on the same team as each other, or separate them?

Movie/TV players will be placed on the team they are on in the movie/show they are in regardless of other players on that team.

So in the case of guys I created from the Bad News Bears.....I placed all those guys California teams. But not on the same one. Kelly Leak is on the Angels I believe (or Dodgers memory escapes me) Rudi Stein is a minor league middle reliever in the A’s system, And Ahmed was placed on the Padres. I am going to create Carmine from Bad News Bears In Breaking Training but have him on a NY Team since he was an Italian from Brooklyn. Or maybe I place him on the Astros since he pitched in the Astrodome in the movie. I am going to create some more Bad News Bears (Tanner for example) as well as some more kids from The Sandlot.

I will compile a list here soon.

Hey all!

I'm very pleased to say now that I have completed adding players, making players more life like, and adding service time to players who didn't have it to the roster that I had in place for earlier releases. As I've mentioned in past posts, I created a good number of minor leaguers for every team as well as adding more aspects to make the roster play more accurate to the MLB. With all this new information, I decided to combine it with my excel skills with this roster by putting most of the data you'd need into a spreadsheet so I'd like to share it at this time.
