How would I apply the latest Patch in years down the road ?

I posted the following on the The Show Nation forum but thought perhaps someone in this forum could answer my concern:

I would like to know if I decide to play this game far into the future and my current PS4 needs to be replaced somewhere down the road how would I be able to reload this MLB The Show 17 game (assuming I have the CD or purchased it as a download) on that new PS4 and apply the latest patch ?

Basically, How long will SDS allow patches to be available for a specific version of MLB The Show and what is the process of getting the latest Patch & applying it once that time period has expired ?

Since I spend an immense amount of time building Old Time Classic Rosters I would like to have a feeling of how long down the road will I be able to continue using them?

    Thanks,
    Don

Re: How would I apply the latest Patch in years down the road ?

Looks like the answer is a game's full life is about 2 years since the only game they are now selling in the Playstation Store is MLB The Show 16 which likely means if my PS4 broke down today and I wanted to reinstall MLB The Show 15 from the CD (since it is not available from The Playstation Store) then I would have to settle for a base MLB The Show 15 without any patches that were made available for it.

That basically makes MLB The Show 15 obsolete and non playable in my opinion as it would with 16 and/or 17 as well.

Thus I think my only option is once I have decided on a version of MLB The Show which I plan to stick with for a few years (i.e. more than 2) I would need to purchase a 2nd (possibly even a 3rd to be more safe) PS4 and install the game on it/them before it is older than 2 years old to allow me the opportunity to also install the latest Patches that were available to make it actually playable.

Otherwise I am stuck with a Non Patched/Patchable MLB The Show game after those 2 years or so.

Now, I understand why SDS has not offered an answer to this question.

And the real issue they likely see is their inability to continue to sell new versions of the game ---- However, I would still be purchasing the newer versions each year but would have liked to think I could have planned on playing any version I purchased for longer than 2 years without concerns for losing that ability forever if my PS4 breaks.

For CERTAIN all these fabulous Classic Rosters will all at some point become non compatible with some future version of The MLB The Show game then the failing of your Play Station will render them non playable.

    Ashame !
