No worries and thanks!
Basically, there seems to be lots of people asking which roster is better to use for franchise, default contracts or real contracts. Default contracts have the obvious downside of lack of realism that all of us are striving for. Jason Heyward doesn't have a gigantic contract that doesn't match his abilities. Chris Sale is paid close to 3 times as much as David Price when in real life, it's basically the opposite.
So the solution seems to be the guys who input all the real contracts into their rosters (thanks guys!). But the downside with that is the game is designed to work with $2546 million in total salaries for all the teams. But with real contracts, that total is $4434, a huge difference. Increasing the salaries by that much has created issues for many people down the road in their franchises. Basically giving all the teams too much budget and teams aren't limited in who they sign in free agency. And other problems I've seen people comment about.
My solution to these two options is to create a happy middle ground. What I do is take the real contracts and divide them in half. By doing this, the total salaries for all the teams comes out to $2557 million, which is extremely close to the default amount. This should prevent any of the issues that people encounter with the real contract rosters. But you still get the realism of Price making way more than Sale and Heyward being one of the highest paid Cubs. So all the salaries are the same as they are in real life, just on a smaller scale that fits with how the game is designed.
Hope that explains the roster, happy to answer any other questions you might have about it.
