What should pete alonso’s power ratings really be?

ANd I’m not asking just as a mets fan. I dont think the current scea settings for him are accurate now that were seeing this guy crush balls like stanton. He just hit a 454ft at 118mph for his 6th home run already. Im thinking of putting them at 82 vs R and 85 v L... or do you guys think that is too generous?

I'm new to this so not the right guy to ask...But if Nimmo has a PvR of ~73, Alonzo is not a 62. Will probably move him to ~80 and then wait and see where the next SDS roster update puts him before adjusting again.

I increased Sony's power ratings for Alonso by +4 each. I don't think that did it justice though. I'll probably edit it some more soon. I certainly won't wait for Sony to update him that's for sure. Their roster team is awful.

Based soley on his 50+ major league plate appearances (small sample size), 99 PWR & 99 PWL

in the one test/sim season I did with Alonso at double 99 power, he hit 33 homers, with a .215 batting average. when you raise him to double 99's, his overall jumps to 83. when the season starts, his morale is fine with his minimumish contract but by season end he aint happy

EDIT: lol right now IRL he's on pace for 80+ homers

Woah, slow down tiger. Small sample size. I guarantee pitchers adjust to him and he slumps at some point t. Unless he has a Cody Berlinger type rookie year. I have been wrong before

His power rating is roughly what they gave Lindor this year, in the 60s. Had to bump Lindor up a bit but I say we wait until the all Star break to see where Alonso's numbers go. The pace he is on won't last all season, more than likely.

I am leaving it as is for now. Let the sample size grow and pitchers get out of their April adjustments.

Here’s what I have from my carryover franchise mode, from one of the CAP’s, based on his power potential as a hitter. I’ll stick with TheDarkKnight’s ratings, from the Mets edits for now for franchise mode, and if Alonso is still racking up power numbers and hits consistently to the potential all star break, then I’ll use these power ratings. It’s still too early, in my opinion.IMG_5537.jpg

His approach is awful good and he really doesn't have any holes in his swing... The man is a beast

Based off his minor league stats from 2016-2018 here is what I have come up with... not a large enough sample size of MLB time to accurately rate based on current stats. His high Potential Rating will boost his attributes drastically during the season anyway.

                        Con R - 54 (.271 Avg)
                        Con L - 79 (.336 Avg)
                        Pow R - 67 (15.35 AB/HR)
                        Pow L - 60 (17.50 AB/HR)
                        Vision - 44 (20.28 K%)
                        Discipline - 53 (10.46 BB%)
                        Clutch - 76 (.328 Avg w/RISP)
                        Durability - 60 (255 GP)
                        Speed - 30

Mets fans crack me up. It's been 57 PAs and we're declaring him an absolutely complete hitter with no holes. Got it.

He's currently sporting a 35.3% HR/FB which Barry Bonds only eclipsed one time in his career. He's also carrying a 13.9% SwStrk rate which is like 33% worse than the league average hitter, so he has holes and they will be exploited.

If you want to use scouting grades his raw power is 80 and his game power is CV 55 and FV 65 which means he's somewhere between a 1/2 standard deviation and 1.5 standard deviations better than average on the power front. In show terms that would put him somewhere around 65 Power vs R and 69 Power vs L.

We have Alonso at 79 vs righties and 69 vs lefties:

                            Contact vs Righties 51
                            Contact vs Lefties 51
                            Power vs Righties 79
                            Power vs Lefties 69
                            Vision 39
                            Discipline 55
                            Clutch 68

These are based on what Steamer is currently projecting for him: .259/.340/.516 with regression applied. Pitchers will adjust to him, but he will remain a constant power threat. He is years from his prime.

lol I still remember when Yankee fans were declaring Shane Spencer to be the same exact thing.

Pitcher adjustments will happen and Alonso likely cool down a bit, if not slump some. A year ago, many Braves fans thought Ozzie Albies was going to hit 40 homers, then pitchers adjusted. He hit only 4 the second half, compared to 20 before the all-star break.

I do think Pet Alonso has a higher ceiling, when it comes to power hitting. But calling him a complete hitter may be a bit premature atm.
