Re: Am I The Only One?

So I am kinda new here. Well not really, I just don't really ever post, and now I remember why.

So don't get me wrong, I am frustrated too. But consider the following.

    * I have been with Microsoft for a little over 9 years now, and spent some time recently with the Xbox team. I see very few people in this forum that have worked in game development, let me tell you, the pressure is real. You got this pandemic, so a lot of these teams are working from home working an insane amount of hours, with little to no job security because dev teams get overhauled at the drop of a hat, to put out a game that no matter what, someone will find something to bitch about it. There is no such thing as a perfect bug-free game release. Are some worse than others, yes. but that is the software game as a whole. Nothings perfect. You as a consumer have every right to voice your feelings, but to insult the people that work on the game is just rude. Can you do their job better than they can, THEN DO IT, because IMO that is about the only way I see someone having the right to insult someones intelligence, skills, mental capacity etc. It like listening to armchair quarterbacks. Its exhausting and creates a toxic environment. Look at it this way, it could be worse, they could have canned the project or delayed it outright, which is what happened to a **** ton of games due to covid. If it bothers you so much, then trade it, sell it, return it, don't buy it. Because honestly, the easiest way to get results, is to stop giving them your money. Then it will open their eyes when sales drop. But if you keep handing them your money, they have little to no reason to fix something that's going to sell anyway lol.

Just my opinion, and I am probably going to catch heat. But I give absolutely zero ****s so its more just entertainment at this point lol

    Good day ya'll

Dude are you serious with this sob story? Companies across the globe are going through the same pandemic game developers are. I work in the Engineering & Consulting Field. You know what happens when there's a due date (release date) and we miss it? Millions of dollars out the door everyday you're behind.

You know what happens when you flip the switch on a Wind Farm & something doesn't work right? It's on you to fix & the Client (consumer) doesn't pay for it. It comes out of your pocket.

You are right, the consumer is not holding them accountable. But that's never going to happen. Especially not when their big seller, DD, works as planned.

I'm not trying to attack you personally. Just please don't use the pandemic & pressure as an excuse. My team exceeded our New Business Budget last year in the midst of chaos & pressure.

This is exactly how I expected developers to think.. What a rambling, incoherent mess.

You should be doing nothing but thanking us. Luckily you work in an industry that doesn't actually matter. If it did, you couldn't be this horrible at your job and stay employed. Keep making your embarrassing excuses, and keep reminding people that being forced to acknowledge your incompetence hurts your feelings(nobody cares).

We shouldn't have to tell SDS that a core feature of their game doesn't work. They should be telling us, taking responsibility, and providing a timeline. Every other gainfully employed person knows this, and does it like their job depends on it - because it usually does.

Nobody will have time to pick apart your nonsensical post, but I'll highlight one thing you've got reversed. Instead of telling people not to buy it, how about if you're that uncomfortable with criticism, go find a job where you can get away with saying you're trying your best and not be accountable to anyone.

        Good luck.

*note - I wrote this on company time, lol.

Gives "zero ****s".... comes in a writes a book about it.

          Three things;

First, EA.. Microsoft... GIANTS. Billion dollar entities. We're LONG past the point where their excuses can be justified.

Second, delay the release of the game(s). Especially in a year like this, with a built in freebee. Don't rush a **** product out and expect that consumers will look the other way.

Third, the book has been out on the industry for a VERY long time. Its why I didn't pursue it. If you don't like the abuses, QUIT. Do something else.
          You want free speech?
Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.

I am always posting on company time lol. Glad I’m not the only one. Thankfully it doesn’t hurt my performance.

This is the general attitude I’ve noticed from a lot of people in this country as of late. A willingness to deflect instead of taking responsibility. The whole “well I tried my best. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it”. Then when confronted with their indifference you are referred to as “toxic”. Like sorry I as a paying customer have some level of expectations that I will receive at least the most minimal accountability. If I ever used this excuse at my job, that would be the day I am handed my walking papers

              Good day ya'll

IF this was a one time thing, due to the pandemic, it’d be a different response.

IF this affected all game modes, it’d be a different response.

IF these issues didn’t push players to a specific game mode, it’d be a different response.

But the cold, harsh reality is that these issues have been around for years, and are never addressed. The default rosters are always a mess - especially since the advent of DD - and are only getting worse. And many of the core issues are the same from year to year on the rosters - missing players, incorrect ages/service time/ages/handedness, horrible potentials. This doesn’t really affect anything but franchise. It’s a franchise breaker. Thankfully, there’s usually a vault where others can share rosters. Oh, now that’s toast as well as carryover rosters and Y2Y saves. It makes playing a franchise pointless. RTTS is gutted.

Miraculously, though, DD is good to go. None of these other issues affect DD. So where is SDS funneling players - right to the moneymaker.

It’s not laziness or incompetence. It’s a very focused strategy to funnel players towards the mode that makes them more money for putting out an incomplete product. They know exactly what they are doing, and they are making money by intentionally teasing improvements to the other modes just to suck consumers into DD.

Franchise is never coming back. They are going to make sure that DD is the only viable mode every year.

Re: Am I The Only One?

This is the primary reason why I have such a love/hate relationship with the OS community.

Rosters are at the utter core of a sports video game. The rosters are literally the players you play with in the game. There is no reason as to why a Triple A company that created a formerly EXCLUSIVE game, cannot put together a 100% accurate roster. Like why in the living hell are simple numbers like ages wrong?? That’s readily available information.

But it irks me more when I see respected members of this community say “They give you the power to fix it, just fix it yourself”.

                ??????

And we wonder why they continuously don’t put effort into the most basic aspects of the game. Content creators and respected community members (not just on here) make excuses for them.
