For messing around with older timer teams / HOFers, should I buy the show 20 or 21?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Full disclaimer, I can’t name 5 current major leaguers but grew up watching a ton of baseball in the 90s, 00s, and I know a bunch about old timers as well if I wanted to play a franchise mode with all time teams (or maybe a fantasy draft made up of all time players from every team), would I pick up the show 20 or 21? I think I read something about rosters not transferring, so I’m guessing there’d be less to choose from? I’m on ps4. Thanks!

Without Question: MLB The Show 20 is the game for Old Time Classic Baseball fans ....... there are tons of rosters to choose from ...... one is "Legend & Longballs" which are the top players from the '90s on each respective team they played most on .......... GREAT for Franchise and in particular if you wish to conduct your own fantasy draft ........

There are like versions for the '70s & '80s as mentioned above .........

So So Many to Choose From with MLB The Show 20

With MLB The Show 21 ..... there are ZERO but perhaps overtime there will be a few but nothing compared to MLB The Show 20

IN THE PERFECT WORLD it is: MLB The Show 20 on the PS5 !

Perfect, thanks! Right now I have ps4 but I assume the same rosters will work. I assume the announcers can’t actually name any of the players, does this break immersion in any way? If there are players like Piazza that are in the game in some form, will announcers say their name even though the version in the custom roster is created?

For '90s the announcers announce probably 95% + of the players ..... that % percentage reduces somewhat as you move further back in time ......... BUT even with the '60s it is around the 80% + clip ............

I also think for the '90s there are single season rosters for every season except '94 but that one is in the works ........ most of the '80s are covered too with likely only '86 missing but I think someone is working on that one as well ........ the '70s are 1/2 covered and the '60s about 1/3 covered ......... amazing choices ....... A Lot from the early 2000's as well but I don't keep track of them that much so I can't say a whole a lot about them other than there are a bunch of 'em ..............

MLB20 will go down as one of the greatest releases for classic teams and rosters in any game.

Thanks, I currently have 19 but I think I’m going to upgrade to 20 for 10-20 bucks. It feels super weird for me to not get the ‘latest’ version of a game but I checked out the historical rosters thread and it looks amazing for 20. The long balls roster specifically makes me super excited to do a fantasy draft. The 90s-00s is exactly when I watched a ton of baseball and I probably know almost all of the players. Might even throw in the Legends for a curveball. Couldn’t name 5 current players so it wouldn’t make sense for me to start with a game where I could only play with current rosters.

Oh SURE DON RUB IT IN....SOME of us can't FIND the ps5 without giving up a first born child, an arm and a leg, cash considerations and possibly a player to be named later for one!!

Ha Ha ! Good response ...... I had the same difficulty and had basically given up ...... BUT one day I decided to just check again and expected fully to be disappointed again ....... then suddenly I found myself in the queue with a reasonable chance of getting one & WALLA ! I was shocked .......... although MLBTS21 ain't worth loading on it even BUT it is GREAT for MLBTS20 ! Not that I would say it is worth buying just to run MLBTS20 on it ....... but it really does run better on the PS5 than it does on the PS4 ! So, if that is the only reason you are trying to get one you aren't missing out on much & $aving a good bit of money at the same time!

I was able to get mine from Playstation Direct .............
