Can anyone recommend sliders to use with RBU rated rosters for cpu vs cpu play? Started ‘51 season on mlb 20 (playing on ps5) and cannot get good game play. Seems like sliders I used when playing same roster on ps4 are creating different game play on ps5???

Re: RBU Release thread
Just a quick update:
As it stands right now, I have no plans to purchase the '22 version of the game. While this could change in the future, I've been increasingly disappointed with the direction they've taken things (especially abandoning y2y saves and roster transfers) and will likely hold back until things improve.
What this means is there will be no RBU '22 version since in order to adjust ratings I have to do testing using the current version's sim engine. For roster makers, using last year's RBU would be the next best thing but it's likely to be more off in some respects, so keep that in mind when using it '22.
Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully somewhere down things will turn more in our favor.Comment

Re: RBU Release thread
Defensive ratings are also calculated as well, with quite a few arm ratings being directly input, since it's difficult to gauge arm strength statistically.Comment

Re: RBU Release thread
I've uploaded version 21.1 of the RBU file. The final release also includes the custom player calculator and spreadsheets with all career and seasonal ratings for MLB players.
***NOTE: You must have Microsoft Excel (desktop version) with Visual Basic and enable macros in the settings. The utility will NOT work with the online version.
Also: Unlike previous versions, you should NOT relocate the main RBU21v1 folder. Doing so will cause an error when loading pictures on the input screen. The main file (RBU21v1.xlsm), however, can still be placed anywhere you choose (as well as the Career/Season ratings spreadsheets).
Please note that 2019 is the latest year available. I'm a bit behind on updating records, but since this is a historical utility I don't see that affecting too many people. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to get caught up.
New additions:
1) Pitch ratings...all players now have pitch repertoires and ratings of break and control. Velocity for individual pitches is not available, but a top velocity is. This is a first attempt at this and the data is reliable for some and off for others. Also, pitch ratings are not multi-year weighted according to the values you specify - all pitchers have single year ratings for each season.
2) Expanded minor league options. You have the option of adding full (or near full) minor leagues (from about 1915 on). These are all real players, most of which never played in the majors. This will result in each team having way more than the 90 or so slots available, so I doubt most will take advantage of it, but there you have it anyway. You can also elect to forego minor leaguers or only include those that eventually made it to the majors.
3) The input helper screen has been redone...it now includes additional information such as salary, service time, hitting tendency and more. It also grabs a picture of each player as you cycle through them.
4) This is a bigger download (186 MB) since there is so much more info, and the main file size is a little bigger and slower since it's doing more. Keep that in mind.
--------Additional fixes and updates since beta release------------
5) Fixed a bug that was causing free agents to be omitted from the builds.
6) Added the option of using career ratings only for pitchers' batting attributes.
7) Added the option of using/excluding minor league years in final calculations.
8) Durability now reflects time spent on injured reserve/disabled list. So certain players who spent most of the year injured now have much lower durability ratings (like in the 20s or 30s).
9) Fixed a bug that was preventing weighted calculations from working.
10) Fixed the formula for service time (days, years) so it calculates correctly.
11) Added a player search bar on the input screen.
12) Added a check box to turn off pic loading for the input screen. You can use this if you have internet connectivity issues and players will not load.
13) Fixed power attributes so they now calculate correctly when using weighted ratings.

Hello JTommy,
First let me say, i love the work you've done with your utilities over the years. Helped me with MANY roster seasons I've created.
That said, I wanted to ask you about your Custom Player Calculator 21. I'm in the process of doing JPN teams back in 1966, so I wanted to ask about the "Appearance Scaling". Is it based off of the MLB seasons? So 100% scaling means 162 games, so to get down to around 133/134 games, I would need to put the scaling at 85%??
Really trying to understand that part. Thank you again for any help you give.Comment

Re: RBU Release thread
Yep, I hear you on this. I am still on PS4 with MLBTS20 and have no intention of moving forward. The stadium creator would be great to utilize but with minimal classic teams, it's pointless for me after you have such a bevy of choices on 20. The gameplay is also on point with the 20 version. Thanks again!I am the way

Re: RBU Release thread
Hey man this tool has been awesome being able to port ratings into this fictional roster I have. It's cleaned up so many teams minor league systems and gave guys more....personality? I.e. Guys with varying splits, defensive upgrades or downgrades etc.
My question if you still are around, does the HR/9 rating affect anything for pitchers? I notice even in the custom player sheet I've had guys have a HR/9 at 0 and that seems...odd? I like that its lower or higher depending the year. But I wanted to be sure that wasn't some error in the sheet or that it doesn't matter. I don't think it affects anything in actual gameplay but sim I just never know.Comment

JTommy> have a problem. I'm trying to use your latest "custom calculator" for my College Roster and when I type in some STATS it goes to a pop up asking for a "PASSWORD" to continue and I cant get past it unless I turn it off using control panel.
The ONLY calculator I've been able to use freely is your 2017 version.

Re: RBU Release thread
I'm assuming that issue is just a weird quirk with the player calculator and my data. I'll get a screenshot to replicate it.
Maybe this answers that issue but is there a reason for HR/9 being so low in the "historic" rosters? Does that not create a very weird problem where Starters are giving up TOO many homeruns or they give up a more realistic amount and I'm panicking for nothing?Comment

Re: RBU Release thread
Well I can say the problem is almost certainly arising from the fact that the standalone calculator was uploaded to google docs, which prohibits the VBA code from functioning properly. An entirely different set of scripts would have to be written to get around this, of which I have no experience. This is why I posted that my tool is not compatible with online versions of excel.
That said, I entered a full screen of stats and saw no errors, but of course the macro buttons don't work so the player cannot be exported to the output page, so I am unsure what specifically you're doing. to trigger the password prompt.Comment
