Can someone explain the proper way to edit rosters?

I am wanting to update some of the latest roster update. Not to the degree of making a set to release. Just for myself

I see people talk about issues with 40 man to staying and this and that

I want to edit the rosters outside of franchise and save them and bring them in. So what actual changes can I make in the edit rosters mode that will carry over to franchise and what will not?

and where do the 40 mans mess up and such so I dont waste time

I guess what am asking is there anything I can change in edit mode that when i upload into franchise mode it will reset ?

40 man roster does not change when you start franchise (at least until you are a couple days/weeks in and the CPU starts making transactions). If you choose to start in spring training every single player on the 40-man will be on the big league club to start

The 26 man active rosters are determined by the roster logic within franchise mode, so those may change from what you edit your roster file, even if you start on opening day.

I could be wrong, but i *think* Lineups/rotations do stay the same unless one of the starters is sent down by the CPU when they set the 26 man active roster. But that is pretty common, especially in the updates with lower rated players in the default Lineups replacing injured players

So focus mainly on making sure the 40-man roster is to your liking outside of franchise (presumably making sure injured players are added back).

        1. Open roster file with external editor
        2. Edit players in the editor, or export to a spreadsheet, whichever you prefer
        3. Make changes

... disregard, thought I was in the Madden section

.. roster editing for this game is pathetic. Editing players 1-by-1? I'll switch my Commodore 64 on and get to work!
