Re: Full minors 24 news?
I do the sameI don't mean any disrespect at all to the guys doing the OSFM Full Minors now.....but the game has had VERY GOOD rosters right out of the gate the past two years. A large part of that is that Ridin now works fow development team.
The game rosters are close enough that if you just spend a little time on Fan Graphs and a couple other sites. You can move the necessary players, download a handful of players from the Vault within the game, then spend a little time adjusting the rosters, lineups, rotations for each team and you certainly have a roster set that's good enough to start your franchise
Here are some helpful sites:
ROSTERS/LINEUPS/ROTATIONS

TRANSACTIONS
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/transactions/trade/
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/transactions/signed/
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/transact...ed-free-agent/
I've spent two nights about 3 to 4 hours each night at most getting my own roster squared away and had something that was what I considered to be pretty damn good. What I do is as I play my season/franchise....prior to each series, I make sure I have done any necessary updates to that team (30 team control) and edit the equipment for each player on the MLB roster rather than editing equipment for each team at the start of the season.
Again, I mean no disrespect at all to the guys working on the rosters and I'm certain that what they release is going to be awesome.....but I feel like we have FINALLY reached the point that the game rosters are getting close to where we don't need people going through all the work and dealing with the pressure of expectationsComment

Re: Full minors 24 news?
I don't have the time to make my own rosters anymore so I really appreciate the team working on this. Ever since they switched from Vasgersian to Boog my name isn't in the game anymore so I just stick to playing MLB 21 The Show until the full minors roster is available anyways.Comment

Re: Full minors 24 news?
I might also add that there are a ton of other very good options already in the vault that you could use
Again, not knocking the OSFM crew one bit......their release is going to be incredible....but there are some other good options
I guess what I'm getting at is that for myself.....I don't want to wait around for a month or two at this point. Go back a few years and it was still necessary. Go back to anywhere from 6 to 15 years ago and you had no choice but to wait however long it took for OSFM to drop.Comment

Still looking forward to these. One thing I love is that they include the international players.Comment

Re: Full minors 24 news?
Most recent update I've seen was 12/30 teams done, which was about the 4 week mark from when they started. So i would say about 5-6 more weeks for a release.
I rolled with Franchise to Fidelity for franchise this year. Definitely not perfect, OSFM is a better roster. However, I like how they nerf the OVRs of SDS created players. Much more realistic IMO, saves ratings of 90+ for true stars.
Took a look a True sim, appreciate there work, but their were like 10+ braves players over 90 overall, i know they are a good team, but still.
Jason delay, a long time journeyman catcher for the pirates, their 4th catcher on the depth chart. 30 years old ish, about a seasons worth of atbats with a .230 career average. He's like an 80+ overall with contact in the 70s right and left.Comment

Re: Full minors 24 news?
Yeah . . . I like the idea of TrueSim, the fact that the lower a lot of overall ratings does seem to unlock the progression system a bit, but I concur there are enough questionable ratings that it tends to degrade immersion for me.
Really, I just want an SDS Opening Day roster, but with the service time minor leaguers and international players added in, and the fake/dev players removed.Last edited by StonewallTexan; 05-25-2024, 04:18 PM.Texas Rangers/Chicago Cubs

The game is severely lacking in the franchise department. Why does this game even have a coaching staff. They only exist for ratings boost. They don't even offer you the ability to create strategies with them. They don't have specific behaviors that make them unique.
The training system is so inconsequential, vacant, and a waste.
Why don't we have more advanced stats (OPS+ and ERA+)? Why don't we have a distinction between groundball and fly ball pitchers? Why don't hitters and pitchers have distinct strategies and approaches? For example: pitcher A likes to throw his 2SFB up in the zone against lefties when he's ahead with 2 strikes because of the run, and they can't catch up with it. Anything like this, or how aggressive a hitter is going after the first pitch. Why is it that a game like baseball that is so much about strategy, planning, and maneuvering so lacking in it?
There should be a player strategy screen in the edit player screen with these items and so much more. How about instead of baserunning aggressiveness being a rating, it could be a tendency split between basestealing and regular baserunning. Some really good baserunners don't steal a lot of bags but capitalize on opportunites when they're just running the bases. How about a breakout rating for gap power (Ala OOTP) for really good line drive hitters that destroy the gaps for XBH but don't hit a lot of HRs.
How about defensive ratings by position? When you change a players position their rating also changes however, it would be much better for players to have specific ratings for each of primary or secondary position as well as differtianting arm strength and accuracy for different those different positions ( a player who is great at throwing out baserunners at C but that arm doesn't exactly translate if they're playing in the OF. Can we get a pitch framing rating/ability (which could help increase or decrease pitchers effectiveness on the mound).
I think these are realistic asks of the game in 2024. However, I'm also aware that most of these development studios (and primarily the publishers) are playing games with these sports licensing agreements. Sports games for fans like myself that love these sports where the franchise mode was the purpose of the game are long gone. These games are now live service games that serve as a piece of pop culture more than sports simulators. When it comes to franchise mode I think (and I can't believe I'm saying this) that MLB the Show as a franchise and 24 in particular is the worst of the current generation.

Re: Full minors 24 news?
Agree with the above. Especially the idea of having a (trainable) defensive rating per position, instead of just being designated 1 primary and some secondary positions would do a lot to make the franchise mode more realistic.
Also, interested in when the OSFM folks will drop an update. It has been three weeks since any news on X.Texas Rangers/Chicago Cubs

Would imagine getting close to release as believe they had like 12/30 teams done at last update.

Re: Full minors 24 news?
I personally think they should release it in waves.
Like ..
V1 only Atribute/pitches updates on existing players
V2 added prospects
V3 equipment
I would be ok with v1 and totally fine with v2 in this example.Comment
