I had a similar issue going on after about 20 games and the remedy for me was pitch speed down to 3 from 5. I was in your boat though man, never really struggled hitting in years past, but it is like this year the timing window on pitches is much more punishing. Check timing after each swing and if you are consistently off, maybe try tweening down pitch speed until you are getting in better at bats and see if that helps. Worked for me and I am absolutely in love with The Show this year.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
Played my first game with these sliders and got decent results. Given it's just one game but I'm a little concnerned that my pitching will be too good. I'm obviously going to give it more time but if every one of my starters is throwing 6-8 innings of shutout ball every game, I've got to change something up.
Also, I'm playing with the ball marker on. I can understand how pitching without it would make things more difficult but at the same time I have a tough time getting past it. Pitchers know exactly where they're trying to throw the ball every time, whether they hit their spot(s), well, that's a different story. I did issue one walk but the CPU didn't really make any kind of good contact aside from their ninth inning rally.

Yeah man I have my timing on 3 and actually that's not my problem my timing has been good just cant find a hole. But my last three games I have scored 9 7 8 maybe my sorry braves are getting hot. lol Are you using power swing alot? I use contact when im down 1-2 and 0-2 than power with my big hitters with 3-0 and 3-1 but I cant hit any damn bombs. I know the braves dont have a lot of power hitters. I think that is my main issue. back to my marathon day of playing the show. Its been my first day off work in the last 10 days. lolI had a similar issue going on after about 20 games and the remedy for me was pitch speed down to 3 from 5. Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
I hear ya about work man, enjoy it while you got the time. I try to reserve power swing for spots I think it makes sense OR guys that will hack all the time. If I got a runner on second with no outs and Braun up 2-0, I typically will look for a certain pitch and sit on it with a power swing if I get it. Playing as the Brewers I also got Gomez (is there a guy more willing to swing out of his shoes on a consistent basis?), and with him I will take a big cut anytime I am up in a count (2-1, 3-1), and sometimes even on 1-1 depending on the situation. I shouldn't say always, as there are times I might be up 3-1 and take a pitch or just need contact (no outs runners at the corners in a tight game), but in general those are my power swing rules. Pretty much count, player, and situation based, but honestly I do not know where I am sitting on the power swing this year. I certainly do not notice it being too much of a difference, which I have in the past and banned myself from using it.Yeah man I have my timing on 3 and actually that's not my problem my timing has been good just cant find a hole. I use contact swing anytime I am behind a count UNLESS I am at the play with a guy like Braun against lefties who already has incredibly high contact vs lefties. The biggest thing I personally think the contact swing does is just help me extend at bats and see better/more pitches in an at bat. You can really wait and even be behind on pitches and the contact swing will help you fight them off better than a normal/power swing. I have also hit HRs with a contact swing and non-power hitters, so while I am sure it has some effect on power it definitely does not remove it entirely.
Lastly, as you said yourself, baseball is a streaky game. I have had a 6 game losing streak and 7 game winning streak within my first 80 games. Somewhere in these posts I mentioned being worried about power numbers and then went off over the next handful of games. I am still sitting at 22nd for HRs, which I feel is a bit low, but after an abysmal start it is definitely getting better.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
Only one game, but with some of the posts and people mentioning they are not ever issuing walks -- are you guys playing with QC on? I do personally, and there are at bats I just cannot throw a strike. Come into it 2-2 off a QC in a tight spot and just throw fastballs down the middle and my pitcher just cannot hit his spot. I have my games with only a walk or two, but I also have games where I throw 5+. Maybe it is a QC thing that puts me behind in counts sometimes to begin with, but I am issuing walks and currently actually right in the middle of the pack for walks issued.Played my first game with these sliders and got decent results. Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
I will say it again. The game shines statistically with QC's on.
And you can get in 3 games in under 2 hours sometimes.
Win win.
I am actually using ball marker fade now. I just want a little more challenge and a cleaner screen. And thanks for that tip on the R1 4 finger tell (pats his glove, knee etc) great stuff. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
Armor first off great sliders as always.
Now I need some advice for my offensive woes. I am using the allstar with QC, as I found the hybrid set was pretty easy.
So I seem to be too early on a majority of offspeed pitches and too late on any fastball, up and in, forget about the idea of even making the slightest contact. And when I do make good solid contact the ball seems to scream right to the defenses glove with little to no movement made by them, I hit it right to them. Now I have the pitch speed set at 3, I lowered it to 2 but I was hammering the ball.

Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
I'm not using quick counts. I did just play a game with Jason Hammel pitching. Had a 3-0 count on a hitter and tried to throw (tapped x) a strike right down the middle. And missed. Ball four. It was awesome. I ended up with four walks by Hammel.Only one game, but with some of the posts and people mentioning they are not ever issuing walks -- are you guys playing with QC on? I'm liking classic pitching but as a long time analog user on Hall of Fame pitching it's still taking some getting used to. Overall, I think I've had pretty good result thus far though. I've played three games so far (opening series against the Cardinals) and so far I've won 5-2, lost 4-1, and won 3-1. It's always seemed to be that games are low scoring. I'm really hoping to see some 8-9, 10-12 games now and again.Comment

How many games in are you? Honestly. I go through stretches sometimes where I am seeing the ball amazing, taking those trap out pitches (high inside FB and changes that drop off the table) for balls. Then I can get into a rut and chase those pitches.
As far as hitting screamers right too gloves.....that's baseball. Those will find gaps soon. It will average out. Keep at it. Trust me. I was hitting awful in April in my 1987 Yankees franchise, then I exploded in May and had a decent June and now I was just shut out by Frank Viola on a 4 hitter, and he fanned me 14 times....all on pure junk balls.
This game is incredible.

I'm about 15 games into my franchise. Stanton and Ozuna are the only guys who can hit it seems, but yet there's been several games where they go 0-4 as well. How many games in are you? Honestly. Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders
Man, this wasn't the point. I was just posting to see if others are experiencing the same thing. I'm not playing QC, so maybe that's the issue. I just like playing full games and I'm getting precious few walks. I consider myself average, at best.Last edited by kpeercy; 04-19-2015, 10:00 AM.Comment

I think if you play QC you will get whole different experience. I am in the middle of pack in walks aloud. Playing without Qc I hardly walk anyone.Comment
