Need help, striking out CPU too much

Here's my background: Playing on DD difficulty but it's mostly been All Star pitching, with a few games going up to All Star +. A few games at the beginning of the season building up to all star but not more than 4 or 5. I use meter pitching. I'm 45 games into my season.

    Here are my relevant sliders:

    Human Pitch Control: 2
    Human Pitch Consistency: 2

    CPU Contact: 4
    CPU Power: 5
    CPU Timing: 5
    CPU Foul Frequency: 6
    CPU Solid Hits: 7

Here are my relevant pitching statistics:

    ERA: 3.51 (19th in league)
    Hits: 363 (6th in league)
    HR: 33 (T3rd in league)
    BB: 128 (10th in league)

    And the big one:

SO: 435 (1st in league, with next closest at 381)

I'm not a big fan of making big changes to sliders. Game is playing pretty well but feel this one stat is a big glaring issue. Anyone care to chime in with some helpful suggestions?

While I don't know what team you are playing as so I don't know if your ERA is really that good or not but you could try upping CPU timing by 1 but then they would hit better to. Or you could maybe try upping timing by 1 and lowering contact by 1 or something.

Raise Contact back to default, so that the CPU reads and recognizes pitches a little better, and makes contact more consistently

Lower Solid Hits by 1 or 2 points as a balancer, because Contact also affects BABIP, and overall hit quality.

Without any slider adjustments, except lowering user pitcher control and consistency 1 click to 4, just try 3 or 4 games using Classic Pitching

CPU Foul Frequency is too high IMO and will cause too many 2 strike counts, Also lowering CPU contact you've increased your K numbers. Contact controls plate vision and discipline to a certain degree. Couple that with the high foul frequency and the CPU will make poor contact and swing and miss strikes. I'm gonna guess thats why CPU Solid Hits is 7?

I keep my CPU hitting at default except for Solid Hits I lowered to 4. I keep Human pitcher control and consistancy at 3.

I have contact, power and timing on default for CPU, solid hits at 3 to balance and foul frequency at 1 which cuts down on 2 strike counts in quick counts. I still have good strikeout numbers, but hover around 4th or 5th in the league.

I also use classic pitching though.

I've made a few slight changes and seeing some improvements but need more games played yet

I'd love to hear what you adjusted when you get things settled. I'm having the same problem. Most of my starters are getting 9-12 strikeouts a game and I had a game the other day where Ian Kennedy fanned 17. My games are good and I'm having a lot of fun but I wish that K/9 rate would go down a bit.

I'm in the same boat, I struck out 16 Tigers in a game yesterday with Gerrit Cole. I try to hit corners and mix locations, yet I cannot seem to walk anyone this season. The CPU whiffs at anything I throw.

                    My sliders are:

                    CPU Contact: 5
                    CPU Power: 5
                    CPU Timing: 5
                    CPU Foul Freq: 4
                    CPU Solid Hits: 5

                    Hum Control: 2
                    Hum Consistency: 3

Im going to lower foul frequency to 1 to see if it impacts anything.

Glad this thread is going, having same issue. I do like that I feel i have the ability to strike people out, there were some years it felt like the CPU got to everything. wouldnt mind seeing it come down a touch. Im thinking of trying CPU contact up to 6 for a few games and see how it goes.

right now on AS all sliders for CPU are default except for solid hits is down to 4.
