    Pitch speed advice please

Does lowering pitch speed from 5 to 4 make hitting easier or does it just affect how much you pull the ball and have good timing? I play on 5 and am always late on fastballs even in fastball counts and I'm sitting on fastball. However I'm satisfied with the number of hits and homers I hit. Just get frustrated being late all the time. I play on AllStar with A&S sliders. Am 52 years old so doubt going to a higher level is an option. Thanks

    Re: Pitch speed advice please

Everyone has their preferences, but if I play on anything under 5, I'm way too early on off-speed stuff.

Also, it is possible the reason you are late on fastballs all the time is because of your TV. Check and see if your TV has a Game Mode, and if so, enable it. Game mode on most TV brands turns off all the fancy picture smoothing and effects. All of those extra features take time to process and introduce lag, meaning the picture you see on the TV was actually sent to the TV a few miliseconds before it was actually displayed. So you may be seeing one thing on your screen, but your PS4 already beyond that.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have been playing the show for several years and am confident my tv isn't the issue. You are right, I am usually very early on changeups with pitch speed at 4. But it is also frustrating being a guy like McCann and getting a 2-0 fastball down the middle and being late on it all the time. I Wish there was a 4.5 pitch speed option!!

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's an issue with your TV or any input lag.

I stick around 2 or 3 at pitch speed...it gives me some more time to decipher between fastball and an offspeed pitch. Plus, my old brain can't react fast enough otherwise.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I just find the changeups are just so slow when I go less than 5. I'm WAY too early. Especially when you are facing a guy like Price. But on 5, I'm all geared up for a fastball, get one, swing and am still late. I get my share of hits and homers - it would be nice to pull one and hit a dinger off the foul ball pole though. Nice to hear from an older guy!!

The actually real life pitch speed vs this game is anywhere between 8-10, I myself want fastballs to look like fastballs especially chapman's, but understand if guys cant handle that, but the lower u go the changeups are no longer going to look like changeups more like floaters. For me on MLB 15 (8) is the happy medium. If you find yourself late there's a few things u can try like starting out on default 5, I remember i was hitting great on 15 in my old apartment with 192.168 etc etc on my router right and when i moved the router for new internet was same but i was behind on everything sop after much research found out for my area better to use 10.0.0.1 on router and thats fix everything.

I just don't think it is a tv lag issue. I've played for several years on the same tv and haven't had this problem. I guess I'm going to have to swallow my pride and move down to 4. It's just too frustrating to be behind fastballs 99% of the time. I very rarely have "good" timing on 5. I think moving down to 4 is the lessor of two evils for me - at least for now. The question is will moving down to 4 increase my hits and homers, or will it just change the type of hits (pulling more instead of off field)?

Did you change your batting input type with MLB 15?
I did: From Buttons to Analog.
Doing so, I had to change the pitch speed from 5 to 2-3.
Reverted back to input buttons, and I'm back to pitch speed 5.

                  Question for veteran TS heads:
For '15 what pitch speed would closely resemble the default pitch speed for MLB 12? The default setting is very slow to me

I will suggest you try 3. Play 10-12 games so you get a decent sample vs two rotations of different pitchers.

At 3 you will be able to read sliders, breaking stuff and changes better out of the hand and sit on fast balls better. If it is too slow 4 will be your magic number,

                      But start at 3.

Thanks for your reply A&S. Since posting this thread I started on 4 and now am back to 5. I think I just needed a bitter playing time to get used to the pitch speed. And I noticed that (it seems to me anyway) that different players have different bat speeds. A weaker hitter may be late on a fastball but a power guy can have "good" timing. As a previous poster said, I found off speed stuff to be just too slow with pitch speed lower than 5. With it at 5 I am able to pull the ball sometimes and my contact is normally just a tad early or late - not very often in the "red". This is the first year I used your sliders and they have been great for me (I moved Hum cons. to 3 though). Won't play '16 until your sliders come out. Thanks again
