I agree. Pitches up in the zone but are still strikes lead to too many pop ups.

Agreed with everyone, the pop ups in this years game are borderline ridiculous, Im growing more and more frustrated with the constant and never ending pop ups. I get a runner on 1st and its either low in the zone and an isntant double play, up in the zone and a pop up so I basically have to pray they lay one over the middle or try and hit and run and hope its low in the zone.

So funny! I have played about 45 games and haven't noticed this at all. THEN, after I read this forum I just played a game and popped up about 7 times. I blame you guys for getting it in my head...hahaha

Armor, any suggested tweaks for hitting on Veteran? I just can't take the constant pop ups hitting on All Star.

Its funny because ever year and I mean ever year I have had the issue of popping up to much and this year I am to but it is much better then ever before.

Sorry....not seeing all the pop up issues, not seeing the bunting issues, not even having any base running issues on default/assisted sliding.

Guess I have a different game then a lot of people.......sliders are finished.

I am playing the crap out of this game.

I wonder if the people who are having pop up issues use the left stick to influence hits? Because I don't use it at all and I hit way to many pop ups.

Patience at the plate pays off and these sliders give you one hell of a game. I'm by far no expert at playing but with my Cubs franchise I went 3-3 on the opening road trip and know exactly that bad choices by myself lead to atleast 2 of the losses. Starting my first series at home tonight and can't wait. Some games you will struggle and some you can really give it to them. Thanks Armor and Marino for the time adjusting these and making such a great set.

I dont influence at all. I seriously wonder if Im playing a different game then Armor as everything I have an issue with he isnt seeing. Im only in the 5th inning of a game against the Mets and Ive already popped it up 5 times on the infield or into foul territory for easy outs. Im not a free swinger either, I usually wait for a pitch in a location Im looking for and it still results in a popup, hell I cant count the amount of times Ive seen a pitch dead middle and my guy cant even get it out of the infield regardless of it saying perfect timing etc.

Try raising solid hits and see if that doesn't help. Contact also has a hand but solid hits tends to have fewer/more manageable side effects.

Also, try influencing down with anyone you don't want hitting flyballs. It doesn't guarantee anything but it might help "lower" the trajectory so a pop up might become a flyball, etc.

I do this with guys like Yelich and his 25 power. He still puts one in the air at times, but not much pop ups.

I don't doubt you're seeing a lot of pop ups. I think there's just too many flyballs in the game in general, and of course some of those likely become pop ups. If you get unlucky...yeah.

I do, but sometimes I get them influencing up (which makes sense because that's an uppercut swing so if my guy gets too under it with a swing designed to lift the ball...)

Location matters. Sometimes I think the "influence up" is better on LOW pitches (raise trajectory from grounder/liner to flyball) than high pitches (which are probably more likely to be liner/fly and the raises trajectory to fly/pop).

Just a theory and I can't say I've really seriously tracked it, but it seems to happen that way at times so I'll put it out there.

Pitches in the middle...well it depends on where that PCI is. When in doubt, I'll influence down unless it's a GIDP situation.

I use Armour's sliders (except human consistency at 3, fastball pitch slider at 6 and offspeed pitch slider at 8) and I agree with Armour in that I don't see the popups you guys are seeing either. And when I do hit a popup I usually know why - chased a bad pitch, high fastball, etc. And I simply press x to hit. I don't use stick, power button or contact button at all.

I'll probably give that a shot at some point. I'll throw you some stats tomorrow night when I can get on to play my nightly game. I'm something like 21-11 so I'm not struggling to win (granted I'm not hitting all that well but pitching has been on point pretty much all season) but you'll see I'm not exactly mashing it and am well ahead in GIDP as a team as well. My hitting is suspect at best, pitching is consistent and that's pretty much the story for the last 4-5 years of playing this game.

Asked this in the main forum, but got no replies so I'll try again here:

Is the Swing/Pitch Info screen supposed to come up if I have the pitch select display option turned off? Because... it's gone. If I turn the Pitch Select Display back on, it'll come back, and it'll stick around for the rest of the game if I turn it on and then off again.

Is anyone else having this issue?

YES! I TURNED IT OFF ONCE, AND IVE NEVER GOTTEN IT BACK!
