So my question is, I am guessing HOF punishes you more for missing the mark, or does the meter move quicker? or both. thanks in advance.

Question for you guys that use HOF pitching
I use Allstar for hitting pitching and fielding.. I pretty much always have. seems to fit me nicely. I love Meter ptiching, so keep that in mind. I however am finding the last few years, and this year again Allstar meter pitching is to easy to hit mys pots. I remove the ball aim. that helps a lil. I struggled a lot with the challenge-less feeling I got from pitching last year. I want to nip this in the bud this year, so I am thinking of either changing sliders on Allstar, consistency. etc...or just bumping up to HOF.
So my question is, I am guessing HOF punishes you more for missing the mark, or does the meter move quicker? or both. thanks in advance.Tags: None -
Re: Question for you guys that use HOF pitching
It's been a while since I've used meter, because I'm an analog guy, but if I remember correctly, the speed of the meter is entirely tied to the pitcher and his delivery. The target size is affected by difficulty though.
Regardless of whether I'm remembering correctly or not, the meter timing is certainly more difficult in some capacity on HoF, and then CPU batters also hit better.
So it's a tougher experience on all fronts.
I too had problems pitching too accurately on All-Star, so I finally bit the bullet and switched to HoF last year. It took a while to get used to it, and I had to tweak sliders to compensate for the fact that I am not really that good... but over time I did adapt, and I even found myself reversing some of the slider changes I made, to get back to the "true" difficulty.
This year I'm also pitching on HoF. I highly recommend it. So far I think the CPU AI is fine at default, too. It seems to be chasing a fair number of pitches, and all that jazz. -

As a zone/meter player, your post hit home here & mirror my feelings exactelly...
Pitching (or weak AI hitting) is just to easy on AS for me. Not a timing/directional hitting guy & LOVE what TNK's sliders bring offensively, but 90% of my games end in me giving up only 1-2 runs...
Check out Mike Lowe's or PAD's slider forums & give HOF a try. (at least on the pitching side of things) I actually gave up 4 HR's last night in a game & am confident that i'll find my pitching sweet spot there...

Re: Question for you guys that use HOF pitching
I'm a meter pitching guy and have been pitching on HOF for the many many years I've played The Show. HOF (or difficulty levels in general) does not affect the meter in any way.
I've found that it only affects how the CPU approaches at- bats and how much damage they do....which can both be manipulated by the sliders. It's still too easy to hit the meter however you want to. I've had to remove the ball marker all together to manipulate my accuracy.Comment

Re: Question for you guys that use HOF pitching
Give TNK's sliders another shot...
The power slider was raised one click (4 to 5) & the game plays completely different. Breezing through pitching every year on AS in the past, I tried raising contact, power, solid hits in the past w/o much change... All of a sudden this game is playing the way I've hoped.

Re: Question for you guys that use HOF pitching
Full disclosure, I am a 100% Classic Pitching guy on HOF Difficulty. I used to use AS but it really never felt like I was being punished for bad pitching. I turn all aids off....no ball marker, no hot zones and no vibration.........But, this forces me to nibble a little bit more and to make tough decisions on when to battle or when to concede and what sequence of pitches are best suited to keep hitter off balance. I found it difficult at first, but overall, you must fear the hitter to make it enjoyable....well for me at least. I also turn pitch selection off (I like a clean screen). I just preview the pitches in my repertoire and follow the catch 75% of the time. I would suggest at least trying these methods and giving it a real shot. To me, it plays very sim and keeps me immersed fully in the gameComment
