    Wild Pitches

Has anyone determined what would cause so many wild pitches? I have Pitch conc and control at 5. Infield errors at 5. Field reaction at 5. I really dont know what else would cause it. Im seeing way to many for both sides. It seems anything thrown (IE sinker, curves, breaking pitches) is going wild. Now the chance of 5+ WP's in a game isnt impossible, but it is very unlikely. Well, to me its way to many. Just need a little help trying to cut it down.

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

    Re: Wild Pitches

I think the Consistency slider actually does what it says on the tin - helps cut down on that kind of thing (HP, WP).

I think what it's doing is decreasing the chance the pitch is outside the pitcher's "accuracy circle" for that pitch. Control sets the circle (the normal potential location area) and consistency determines if its there or who the heck knows where.

I don't think it's WP/HBP, per se, but missing by such large degrees increases the chances of balls getting into those situations, especially if not aiming deep inside on the hands or very low in the zone (normal location variance could take pitches into HBP and WP land on those locations ime).

This is especially one to watch in Classic (and probably Pulse since the main difference is you control the accuracy circle on Pulse). I find I have to raise consistency at least a couple notches, not just for WP/HBP but to get misses that look like a big leaguer actually threw the pitch. Not all pitches will pinpoint, but guys with average control probably don't miss by what would be 2-3+ feet irl, especially not consistently - one off game or inning - here and there sure).

So if I am going to move the Consist up 2 lets say, would I want to move the Control -1 to not over power the pitcher, or do you believe that it wont effect the overall pitcher ability?

Lowering Control a little might be prudent since by not missing by a lot might prevent some realistic misses (curves that land thigh-high or in the dirt instead of just below the knees, etc). A slight drop like you mention would widen the "accuracy circle" so the pitch might not "miss" (in The Show's terms) per se, but could still end up in a less-than-desirable location that's advantaged for the hitter (a "miss" in baseball/pitching terms).

I think your idea of lowering Control a little for a increase in Consistency will work well. A potential side bonus would be more stress on a pitcher's control ratings (pitch and BB/9), so you might get some more expression/difference there.
