Baserunner speed to 4 is a game changer and the last tweak we had to make.

Infield grounders that are softly hit with plus runner and guys with good speed....infielders are more urgent, some more mishaps can happen with increased pressure and humanity AI is even more of a focus in combination with the ratings.

    It is freaking beautiful.

Also stretch doubles, runners on first stretching to third on gap singles. Guys stretching to score on deep singles, bloops....etc.

It opens up more excitement and possibilities.

A superb adjustment and I am sure you will all love it.

I always thought the baserunner speed was just a tad slow. This should help a little more with runners scoring from 2nd on hits. Great adjustment.

Are you noticing any difference in Steal success with this? Does the increased speed offset the Steal Ability decrease?

              Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

After wavering between HOF and AS I have settled on AS. I was having a too easy of time pitching to the CPU on All Star. So, I decided to change the Human Control and Consistency to 1 each. The other adjustments I made were to lower Fielder Speed to 1 (left reaction at 4), lower steal success to 6 and raise base runner speed to 4. Man, did this produce some realistic gameplay. I was the Cubs (Lester) versus the Reds (Bailey) and I eventually lost 2-0. I am in a huge offensive slump right now so the shutout wasn't due to the sliders. I only struck out 4 times, walked 5 times, got 5 hits and they committed one error.....The Reds got 6 hits and I walked them 6 times...I had plenty of base runners. I just couldn't string together anything. The wind was blowing in at 10 mph, so I knew it wasn't going to be an offensive game, but man, I never ever felt cheated at all. I simply was hitting the ball right at the defenders. Bottom line.....Lower your Control and consistency as low as you can to make sure you fear the CPU enough to pitch around them and pray you don't leave it over the middle of the plate. Lester had a very nice game (struck out 9 over 6 innings), but he had a high pitch count because I was being so careful. Something else I like to do is turn the Runner Windows Off. This also adds a lot of immersion to the game. You are forced to look over at the opposing base runners to check their lead. This is a very realistic way to recreate how your attention is split between the batter and runner. There are no real negative affects for your baserunners by the lack of windows, either. You can simply push R3 to check if they are holding you or not. I wholeheartedly recommend ya'll at least give it a try...it adds just a little extra realism into this already fantastic game.

Yes...stealing feels much better now and far more balanced finally.

It was driving me insane. The game is really incredible already, but just this small tweak to base runner speed has opened a pandora's box of new fielding animations, errors, rushed throws, just huge difference.

And base stealing is finally where I want it.

The other thing is runners scoring from second, and much closer plays at the plate.

But all this does not happen without playing over 100 hours to really absorb the new physics, ratings, humanity AI.

This years game has taken such a huge leap it took some extra time to get these sliders calibrated to the point of simulation bliss.

Very excited for everyone playing this game. It is such a gem.

                GOAT sports game.

Outstanding, can't wait to get home and make the minor adjustments...side note, I always work the counts and now thanks to you am using the contact swing when in a hole...holy crap what a difference, some soft line drives, bloop hits...just another added dimension to the game.

and unlike their real life counter parts, my Mets are on a roll at 17-8

With buttons for batting is square the contact swing button? I just always use X but should I try using Square when I have 2 strikes. Might reduce some of my strikeouts.

LOL thank goodness you posted. That would have been miserable for a few days until you realized square was power. I rarely use it. I hit plenty of HR's with the X button swing.

Yes Power swing is used selectively in 3-0, 3-1 or 0-0 counts with true big boppers and situation dictates using that one.

Most of my big flys are with the X button and a rare HR with contact does happen from time to time.

Well I will give my input on HOF pitching and hitting for the tiny sample size I have for anyone who is interested. I couldn't resist. After my Rangers (I'm a huge hockey fan, baseball is #2 sport actually, followed by football) slaughtered the Senators for the second game in a row, I was wound up.

Started playing around 11 PM and played 2 games. Lost the first game 3-1 and the second game 6-2. The pitching felt fantastic. I still struck out the CPU. They still chased pitches. I swear I think the game got easier this year. I'm too good on AS this year. Never happened before. Last year on HOF I couldn't pitch/hit to save my life. This year it felt organic and I think I can be competitive. I have a few tweaks from Armor's base but as far as CPU hitting, the only thing I changed was decrease contact to 5. I still have my control/consistency at 2/2. Didn't feel like the CPU was cheesing. But anyway, pitching felt great. Gave up 3 runs the first game and 6 runs the second game. Struck out 11 the first game and 9 the second game.

Hitting was NOT easy. For those of you who think you square up a pitch and pop it up, forget about it. HOF pop ups are on another level, as well as double plays. You REALLY have to be patient and pick pitches. CPU throws you a 2 seamer on the outside part of the plate, and you swing, you will roll over it and it will be an inning ending double play. All told, I scattered 7 hits in both games including 2 doubles, and 2 solo HR. I really wasn't a threat though. I didn't string together any hits. I actually walked 5 times in the first game, but also struck out 12, which is awesome. The CPU pitching strategy is years ahead as compared to all star CPU strategy. I think I may bump up contact to 6 because for the most part I was helpless, and ride that out. It's gonna be a MLBTS weekend!

So after extensive testing with simulated games and QM.

Having to load in two different sets is kinda counter productive. I found no differences that needed to be made other than the injury slider.

So simply turn down your injury slider on your slider set if you plan to QM a game and whenever you sim any games on the calendar and if you employ 30 team control (which I highly suggest) make sure before you sim the day's scheduled games to turn that injury slider down to 5. After you complete your game....before you advance the day again turn down the injury slider to 5 because sometimes your minor league games have yet to be played.

Also let's say you are in a QM game and want to jump in. When you do...turn that injury slider back to 8 so you have a chance at in-game injuries like we tested in real games. Injury slider at 8 during games you play gives you the nice random chance at a player injury.
