Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

Just played a great game, a Play Now game that was a replay of the first game at SunTrust Park tonight. I was my Braves (Teheran) versus the Padres (Chacin).

I used the exact sliders from the OP (v1.8), and won in walk-off fashion 3-2 on a GW line drive single to LF by Tyler Flowers.

I played with Zone hitting for the first time ever. The jury is still out for me on whether I like it since it was just the first game, but I'm committed to trying it out. Small sample size obviously but things felt pretty good. I didn't even come close to sniffing the warning track with a fly ball, let alone a HR. Chacin kept me at bay, throwing 7 shutout innings, allowing 6 hits and a walk while striking out 6. However, we got to Buchter in the 8th and overall, we ended up with 9 hits including an RBI double in the 8th by Dansby that was a line drive laser into the right center field gap. Other than that, I felt like I did a decent job picking the right pitches to hit and laced several solid singles with Brandon Phillips (3 for 4), Tyler Flowers (2 for 4) and Freddie Freeman (2 for 4). On top of that, I was able to draw 3 walks and only struck out 6 times.

On the mound, Julio Teheran was dominant for 8IP, scattering 1 earned run on 6 hits (5 singles and a double), allowing no walks and striking out 8. After going ahead in the bottom of the 8th, the Braves bullpen blew the lead in typical fashion, setting the stage for Flowers' heroics.

    The Usual KPIs:

    First Pitch Strikes:
    Padres (CPU): 57.1%
    Braves (me): 63.6%

    Ball/Strike Ratio:
    Padres (CPU): 63.6%
    Braves (me): 69.4%

    BABIP:
    Padres (CPU): .348
    Braves (me): .360

    Foul Balls per Total Pitches:
    Padres (CPU): 15.3%
    Braves (me): 13.2%

Swings and Misses per Total Swings:
    Padres (CPU): 26.4%
    Braves (me): 25.0%

Just finished this game WITHOUT QC and saw a definite improvement on the manager leaving the CPU starter in. Played a home game against the Twins and they had Hector Santiago on the mound. The manager pulled him in the bottom of the 7th after he walked 2 batters in a row. His pitch count was 94 and I had Carlos Santana coming to the plate. So this definitely was a situation where you would normally see a pitching change.

So maybe the problem with the CPU pulling their starter after 4,5 innings and less than 60 pitches is tied in to Quick Counts?

If anybody else is using Quick Counts, let us know if you are seeing the manager pull the CPU starter much earlier than normal in your games also.

Maybe playing w/o QC will solve this?? I'm gonna play another few games tmrw hopefully w/o QC and test this. Might be on the right track!

Guys using AS for hitting, what sliders did you change from the OP?

Its definitely a QC issue. I have stopped using qc and the problem has gone away almost entirely!

Those look fantastic. You have user solid hits at 6?

Still see the AI w a bit too high of BABIP, but it makes them tough. We can continue to monitor.

I do think IF errors (both throws and fielding) need to be at 7.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

I'm glad I rested on the end of my game last night. With a refreshed focus, I drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 12th, bunted him over w our relief pitcher (depleted bench), Gordon singled to put runners at 1st and 3rd with nobody out. Tyler Moore hits one over the RF's head to send us home with our third win of the season.

                USER .286 BABIP
                24% misses per swing
                14% foul balls

                .324 CPU BABIP
                22% misses per swing
                20% foul balls

Crazy that we tied it at 3 on a 2-out 3-run triple up the RF line with Yelich!

Final notes: I think 7 for IF errors is fine, as is solid hits for user at 7. I don't think we need to raise user pitcher consistency and should keep it at 2. I also think we drop CPU foul balls to -1 to 0.

Yeah, everything was done according to the first post, with the exception I did have the IF errors at 7 (I didn't see any errors at all with them lower). So, power was at 1 and solid hits were at 6.

I definitely don't mind the higher BABIP for the CPU. I haven't been seeing a terrible amount of run production from them (and even in this game they only tallied 2 runs), so I like that it makes them more competitive. I definitely didn't feel like they were overpowered in this game, which could be slightly a result of a 1-game sample size and Julio Teheran throwing darts on the mound.

I actually think lowering CPU foul balls a notch (only AI change) will help tweak thia subtly like we're hoping.

Played my second game without QC. I was going up against the Twins again and Ervin Santana, whose stamina is rated 93. Going into the bottom of the 6th, the Twins bring in a reliever. The score was 4(me) to 1(Twins). Santana had only given up 3 hits and had a pitch count of 68. Hated to see them pull him so soon.

Gonna play a few more and see how this plays out. Did notice there is a thread on the main forum talking about the CPU SP issue. Most people definitely think QC throws this off but I was discouraged to see the Twins pull Santana that soon in my non QC game. More testing to come for me.

I see no problem pulling a pitcher who was ineffective such as he was. 4 runs over 5 innings is pretty rough.

I failed to mention the 4 runs came in the first inning and on 30 pitches. He was pitching pretty good after that big inning.

I agree with you that QC is probably the issue regarding CPU starters. Just thought he might have a longer leash with being only 68 pitches in. I did have the middle of the lineup coming up though when they took him out so that coulda been another reason he was pulled.

Just wanted to give some feedback after what seemed to be the issue with my QC games.

Also bumped up infielder errors like you mentioned. Agree that I'm not seeing enough with previous setting. Zeroing in and enjoying the set!

                                Game 1 with 1.9

Playing in my Astros test franchise until the Hybrid rosters come out.

                                Astros (Peacock) versus A's (Hahn)

Sloppy pitching from both sides despite a low scoring affair. Both sides walked 6 batters, but double plays erased much of the damage for both sides (Astros 2 GIDP, A's 3 GIDP).

Peacock went 6 shut out innings for me, giving up 2 singles, 4 walks and struckout 2. Hahn went 6 for the A's, giving up 4 singles, 4 walks and 4Ks.

After we scored in the bottom of the first on an RBI single (line drive that drilled Hahn) by Gurriel, the offenses we remained quiet until Joyce and Rajai Davis hit back to back solo HRs off Gregerson in the 8th.

I still haven't even hit a flyball to the warning track yet. Definitely need more practice with zone
